Trump’s comments r just plain ludicrous. Hard to put it any other way. A reflection of his delusion? And/or Is someone actually advising him to say things that r so patently absurd? Is this the CIA view? DoD? State? Dan Caine thinks this? Ratcliffe? Rubio? If this is their view too, we r in big trouble. If they don’t push back privately, we r in big trouble too. Not even his most passionate defenders can argue that this is positive regime change (it’s clearly not) nor is the new leadership more “reasonable” (It’s far more radical, the IRGC is firmly in charge). Finally- does he think his MAGA supporters buy this shit? It’s even an insult to them-he must think his base is dumb enough to accept this.

@cmclymer I enlisted in 1987. I, literally, joined in order to pay for college. I then joined ROTC and got commissioned as an infantry officer in 1990.
Given that that was nearly 40 years ago, I supposed my experience may no longer be applicable, but I suspect it hasn’t changed much.
