I had an interaction today over the Erika Kirk situation that honestly caught me off guard. It started as a difference in perspective with someone I’ve known for years, someone who has been around loss too, but not lived it the same way, and it turned personal faster than I expected. That part didn’t sit right with me. We were able to bring it back down and land on agreeing to disagree, but it’s been on my mind since. I’ll never fully understand how people who’ve never lived anything close to what Erika is walking through feel comfortable judging her for how she carries it. Being a Gold Star wife has put me around women carrying losses most people can’t even comprehend. I’ve seen it handled in every way imaginable. There is no one way to do it. What I do know is it’s not clean, it’s not performative, and it’s damn sure not something to tear someone down over from the outside looking in.

@SharrellAnne2 I am always so disheartened when I hear how much hate people allow into their hearts over a woman whose shoes they will never walk in. How can you feel such hate for someone you don't even know? Because you think you know how she should be feeling and acting? Plank in your eye?
