What is a problem is where people’s insistence that they are the opposite gender conflicts with the often hard fought for rights of those who were born that gender. They wish to adopt those rights themselves.

A battle for anti discrimination in the sense previously used could have been quietly but slowly won. Now, too many of the demands are unacceptable to biological women

The claim that “only adult female humans are women” mistakes a biological category for a social one. Womanhood is not just about anatomy—it is a role shaped by economic systems, labor division, law, and power. Material reality includes more than chromosomes. It includes how society is structured and how people are treated. Gender roles have changed across history and cultures, proving they are socially constructed, not fixed in biology. Saying gender is “meaningless” to material reality ignores how gender is a tool used to divide labor, justify inequality, and enforce social norms. That is material.

@sueveneer So long as he doesn't claim actually to be a woman, I see no problem. Dressing in women's clothing is pretty harmless. If his private parts are exposed that's gross, buf if you mean by "visible" that you can just tell he has them under panties, still gross but doesn't affect me.

Just a point about an experience I had volunteering at a charity jumble sale yesterday. A man (with male name, no pretence at being a woman) volunteered too & it was soon clear he liked cross-dressing as he began buying up women’s clothes. 1/
