
I think these statements are equally unhelpful:
- "nothing you can eat will help"
- "just count calories and eat less"
I also think arguing that starvation shows CICO works has issues, because you have to add a caveat like "eat less, but not too much less".
That's a problem for me because there's no clear way to know on when someone is putting their health at risk by under-eating, like the biggest loser contestants or Minnesota subjects did.
I think trying to find a universal framework like CICO or intervention like keto for healthy weight loss is a bit of a fools errand.
