Keir Starmer‘s predicament reminds me a lot of the main character of Shen Teh in Brecht‘s ‘The Good Person of Szechwan’. One simply cannot be 100% good all the time. As in the play, the ultimate responsibility for a solution lies with the audience/population. The end is open.

Reading it as a teen in school had a profound impact on me. One can try to be good, but in a world that isn’t, it will never be 100% successful. Trying and sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing is ok.
