Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

I think Kobe Brown is the secret tank weapon. Things going too well? Sub him in if you want to make offense and defense instantly 25% worse

God forbid a team, any team, try to manage the stress put on players bodies, especially those that have played heavy minutes, by extending opportunities to players who otherwise would not get them. Developing players against NBA talent that all 29 teams can use for evaluation
Rob Perez@WorldWideWob

And this right here, what just happened in Indiana, is why making an example of the Jazz was a short-sighted decision/slippery slope. 1) Zubac returns to action from extended time off, plays heavy 1H minutes. Looks good scoring 8 PTS (4-6 FG). 2) Nembhard drops 23 PTS (!) in the 1H in just 17 mins. They both disappear at halftime, and dont play a single 2H second in what was a respectably close game for a majority of it. Pacers (a team with losing incentive) lose. Sound familiar? The franchise comms team will likely issue an injury management explanation to avoid the eye of Secaucus Sauron/refute the imminent tanking allegations. Is it possible both players got sore in the locker room/hurt in the first half? Sure, I guess. The point here is that by fining the Jazz for conduct detrimental to the league, NOT (⬅️) a Player Participation Policy violation, your games are now going to be under the microscope in the event this type of starter rotation activity occurs again. You can’t just fine one franchise and hang their reputation from a tree to scare the other citizens from replicating the same behavior. That selective enforcement is what put you in the spotlight originally, because Jaren Jackson Jr./Lauri Markkanen ended up either getting surgery or having a legitimate hip injury keeping them out for the foreseeable future. Nembhard/Zubac may end up experiencing something similar to JJJ/Markkanen, they may not, but the inconsistent enforcement WITHOUT knowing their personal medical records is reflective of a business that only steps in when the seat gets hot. The Jazz ended up winning some of those games they were so highly scrutinized for. The Pacers lost tonight. This alone does not justify penalizing the Pacers, because Micah Potter was trying to win just as much as Brice Sensabaugh was for Utah. Players dont tank. If you’re not going to fine the Pacers for this tonight, then just give the Jazz governors their $500,000 back, because this hypocrisy is what’s damaging the league reputation more than the integrity of the game.

@AKRileyy5 May just be my bias but this sorta comes off as a long diatribe of a fan scared the Pacers possibly get a potential young stud to add to the core of the team that knocked his team out the last 2 years & maybe for years to come. What if NY was in this position? Same long post?

If you were ask who do you think will pass Kobe by scoring 83 in a game how long would it take before you got to Bam? Around 450 players in the NBA and probably take til near 300 before would think of him 🤯

While the #pacers individual odds for each pick goes up the percentage they stay in the top four drops with each pick they don't win. Getting 1-4 drops from 52% down to 44.3% to get 2-4 and drops again down to 35% to get either 3 or 4 and then odds to not lose the pick crater.

Asked AI about how percentages would change for picks 2, 3 & 4 if the #Pacers didn't win 1, 2 or 3. Chance at 2 becomes 15.6% up from 13.4%, chance at 3 becomes 17.5% up from 12.7% and pick 4 becomes 20% up from 12% so 80% chance they lose the pick if it comes down to 4 or bust

How do you know outside the consensus top four is a guessing game? When the 5th ranked draftee has a range of 4 through 19, the 9th ranked draftee has a range of 5 to 37 (!!!) and so forth

@AKRileyy5 @HPbasketball I have enjoyed his thoughts on the league and Pacers in the past but when you realize he writes and posts for a gambling site for a living that adds a whole level of context to his opinion.

NBA teams acting aghast at the idea of medicating players so they could play is FUCKING HILARIOUS. These teams will just switch up whatever, man. I'm fine if you want to be against doing that, but pearl clutching when we KNOW they would Wolverine with syringes if it were a conf finals game is absurd.

The #Pacers centers needed to limber up more cause they aren't doing much stretching against Dallas. Combined 0-9 from 3 with 8 to go in the 4th.

@PacersKev @mcuban @Pacers 30+ year STH & I am firmly in the give the young guys substantial run to see what you have to determine how to integrate them into rotation next year while minimizing risk of injury to the established players with reduced minutes & games logged to build towards years ahead.

Why the NBA should embrace tanking - The NBA has kate been misguided thinking that fans want to see their teams compete every night with a chance to win. It’s never been that way that way. When I got into the nba, they thought they were in the basketball business. They aren’t. They are in the business of creating experiences for fans. Few can remember the score from the last game they saw or went to. They can’t remember the dunks or shots. What they remember is who they were with. Their family, friends, a date. That’s what makes the experience special. Fans know their team can’t win every game. They know only one team can win a ring. What fan that care about their team’s record want is hope. Hope they will get better and have a chance to compete for the playoffs and then maybe a ring. The one way to get closer to that is via the draft. And trades. And cap room. You have a better chance of improving via all 3 , when you tank. We didn’t tank often. Only a few times over 23 years, but when we did, our fans appreciated it. And it got us to where we could improve, trade up to get Luka and improve our team. The nba should worry more about fan experience than tanking. It should worry more about pricing fans out of games than tanking. You know who cares the least about tanking , a parent who cant afford to bring their 3 kids to a game and buy their kids a jersey of their fave player Tanking isn’t the issue. Affordability and quality of game presentation are

I don’t think the Pacers need turning around. I think they had a lead at halftime of Game 7 of the damn Finals and are forced into a lost season, and as a season ticket holder I’m happy to enjoy the development of young guys during a gap year for a chance at a better pick.
Patrick Sullivan@PatSullivanIndy

@MillerTimePod I'm a season ticket holder. I go to see them win. Remember the 76s working the process. How many titles did they get? Who did we get the last time we tanked? Walker. Did that turn everything around?

@iPacersblog @JakeLFischer That is a savings of 1.6 million this year so unless they are using that savings to pull off another trade that required that space what would be the point of that trade? Both are FA after this year, Benn restricted while Ayo unrestricted so both possibly gone next year.
