Yesterday, on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I signed a Reviewed Bilateral Air Services Agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco as part of my engagements during the ongoing Global Symposium holding in Marrakech. I also paid a courtesy visit to the President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Toshiyuki Onuma. During the meeting, Mr. Onuma reaffirmed ICAO’s strong commitment to deepening cooperation with Nigeria, commending the country for the development of its comprehensive Civil Aviation Masterplan (CAMP). On the sidelines, I also held constructive discussions with the European Union (EU) delegation. The engagement built upon the existing cooperation framework between the EU and Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation, exploring expanded opportunities for technical assistance, strengthened safety oversight, and deeper institutional collaboration. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation reforms, enhancing regulatory capacity, and supporting initiatives that will further modernize the sector in line with global best practices. The reviewed agreement with Morroco represents a significant milestone in strengthening air transport relations between both countries. It establishes a modern and forward-looking framework that enhances connectivity, deepens commercial cooperation, and expands operational opportunities for airlines, airports, and regulatory institutions. The BASA also aligns with continental aviation priorities, supports environmental sustainability, and reinforces shared commitments to safety, security, and operational efficiency. Beyond aviation, the agreement is expected to catalyze broader economic growth by opening new channels for trade, tourism, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between Nigeria and Morocco.

Reps okay N248.64bn relief, 10-year debt restructuring for Kano, Jos, Ikeja DisCos. Diezani to UK court: I was a rubber stamp — oil contract decisions made before reaching me Diezani Alison-Madueke, former minister of petroleum resources, says she had limited control over oil contract approvals during her time in office, as most decisions were made before reaching her desk. It was reported that Alison-Madueke, while giving evidence during her trial at the Southwark Crown Court, said contract processes in the oil sector passed through multiple agencies before getting to the minister (her). She said the operational authority of the sector rested largely with the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), while the ministry played an oversight role.

FLASH: Governor Dapo Abiodun @DapoAbiodunCON, has approved a weekly day off and a ₦10,000 additional monthly transport allowance for civil servants in Ogun State for three months, beginning from April 2026. This decision was made to provide succor for the workforce of Ogun State in light of the hike in the price of fuel in the country and its attendant impact on the cost of transportation and general standard of living, Workers on essential duties, including medical personnel, judicial staff, teachers, security personnel, and heads of departments, would be exempted from the weekly day-off arrangement but they will benefit from the transport allowance.

Dangote Group debunks claim that Tinubu government earns revenue from every bag of cement. The Dangote Group has dismissed as false a viral social media claim alleging that the administration of President Bola Tinubu earns revenue from every bag of cement sold in Nigeria. The claim, which circulated widely on Facebook, suggested that the government collects as much as N6,240 from each bag of cement sold, alongside assertions that such revenue streams are linked to broader fiscal policies. The company, however, described the statement as misleading and not reflective of Nigeria’s cement pricing or taxation structure. The clarification comes amid a surge in misinformation on social media, including the increasing use of manipulated and AI-generated content to push political narratives.

Reps okay N248.64bn relief, 10-year debt restructuring for Kano, Jos, Ikeja DisCos. The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee, on Thursday, approved a package of financial reliefs and a 10-year debt restructuring plan totalling N248.64bn for three electricity distribution companies — Kano, Jos and Ikeja — in a bid to ease mounting liabilities and stabilise Nigeria’s fragile power market. The figure comprises N128.60bn in accrued interest on debts spanning 2015 to 2025 and N120.06bn in historical principal obligations. The resolution followed the adoption of a report by a technical subcommittee set up to review issues raised in the 2021 report of the Auditor-General for the Federation on the rising indebtedness of electricity distribution companies to the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company Plc. The Chairman of the subcommittee, Mark Obetta, said the recommendations form part of broader legislative efforts to address legacy debts and restore financial stability in the electricity market.
