During the constitutional conference, late Alex Ekueme proposed a rotational presidency, but I opposed it, and Ekueme's proposal didn't go through because we had the majority (70%) of the delegates then. When Alex Ekueme died, I attended his burial, and I admitted that I should have supported his proposal. If I become president, I'll push for rotational presidency to be added to the constitution. - Atiku Abubakar

Charles: There's a strong argument that after the north does 8 years, the south should do 8 years. Why are you seeking to run in 2027, or don't you believe in zoning? Atiku: That argument is an error. Only PDP has zoning. Charles: But you agreed with that zoning formula when you were vice president under President Obasanjo. Why disagree now ? Atiku: The South has governed for 18 years, and the North has done 10 years. So, who's is in a deficit if we're being fair ?

A $25 billion intergovernmental agreement for the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline will be signed in 2026, according to Amina Benkhadra, head of Morocco’s ONHYM, in a report on Monday. The pipeline, known as the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline, will stretch 6,900 km, with a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters, supporting both Morocco and European exports. Backed by ECOWAS, the project has completed its feasibility and engineering stages. A joint venture between Morocco’s ONHYM and Nigeria’s NNPC will handle execution and financing, promoting regional integration and industrial growth. The pipeline’s first gas is expected in 2031, according to Benkhadra, with initial segments linking Morocco to Mauritania, Senegal, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire. Investor interest remains strong, though financing is still pending.
