@KimGCMoody Governments incinerate trillions on grift, fraud, corruption, and trans awareness in Uganda, the last thing they need is another single dollar from anyone for any reason.

Some of you may have seen Gad Saad’s tweet about the amount of “exit tax” that he will have to pay when he becomes a non-resident of Canada. The policy behind the “departure tax” is quite simple: you’ve benefited from Canada during your residency. Accordingly, any unrealized benefits will be realized for tax purposes immediately before you become a non-resident. It’s similar to Canada’s taxation regime on death with significant differences. And, yes, many countries have similar regimes - including the U.S. who charges an “exit tax” when one renounces their U.S. citizenship (or in some cases relinquishes their “green card”). This is a topic area that my colleagues and I have practiced in extensively - especially the last dozen years. The amount of wealth leaving Canada is tremendous. Don’t believe me? Come hang out with me for a few hours to see the files I’m working on… The attached short article in the @nationalpost - that I’m quoted in - is a short shrift summary of Canada’s departure tax written in response to Gad Saad’s tweet. There’s a lot more to the departure tax than what is written in the article but it’s a good appetizer. Link to Gad Saad’s tweet here - x.com/gadsaad/status… nationalpost.com/news/gad-saad-…

Following a very difficult meeting with my accountant, I just found out how much it is going to cost me in terms of an "exit tax" to leave Quebec and Canada. No human being in a free society should have their hard-earned money stolen in this manner. I'm genuinely numb. I'm speechless.

@BrenBuilds You should never use just one model (even Fable). Using multiple, simultaneously on the same problem in a cooperative or adversarial way yields results an order of magnitude better.

"im a claude code user should I switch to codex or cursor?" "I'm a codex user should I switch to claude code?" Don't be so tribal and black or white. Use everything at the top of product lines.

Miss Fable 5? We have Fable 5 at home. Use our round table or pair programming feature to have multiple models work cooperatively or adversarial on big problems or features. Users report as good or better results than Fable, even using open source models.

Even if I didn’t contribute another dollar, $100k in my 401k at 31 will be roughly $3M by 65. That’s what 34 years of compounding will do.

@GadSaad Destroy businesses through spurious taxation and regulation, wait for them to try and flee, take everything they were able to scrape together despite your multi-faceted destruction of their entire life. Profit.

In a sane world, governments exist to improve the lives of people (at a minimum). The worst incidents of my life all stem from the provincial and federal governments repeatedly punishing me financially for being successful in ways that make you feel trapped in a Kafkaesque prison of despair. I realize that many Canadians benefit from the system, and hence will exhibit zero empathy but in a just world, this reality should not be tolerated. It can't be that a government owns 65%+ of all of your worth once all taxes are added up. Send me good vibes. Going through a very difficult time.

Anyone who under any circumstances argues for ANY tax, on anyone, for any reason whatsoever is retarded. Full stop. Western Governments are incinerating trillions on destroying their countries, or trans awareness in Uganda, and until that cancer is removed feeding it sugar is WRONG.

I’m a CPA and tax expert. Canada has a lot of silly taxes and dumb tax rules. But exit taxes actually make sense. And it’s not some sort of ‘theft’. In fact, many countries (including the US) have them. 🧵

@JordanMenashy @GadSaad Uh, his lifetime of taxes paid? The least they could do is not drive the country into the shitter and waste the exorbitant taxes they steal every year but that was beyond the pale.

@jeremyphoward @Zai_org Ya they cooked on this one, I always run it as one of 3 agents in round table and it ALWAYS finds things opus and 5.5 missed, literally 100% of the time.

Wow. @Zai_org GLM 5.2 is a marvel! It is *at least* as good as Opus 4.8 and GPT 5.5. It's super fast, inexpensive, and not too verbose. It responds with nuance and judgement, & handles long context VERY well. I've never experienced an open weights model like this before.

Found a hidden-ish Codex usage detail today 👀 The app shows “2 resets available,” but the small menu does not show expiry dates. I checked the Codex backend endpoint and made a tiny local helper that shows: ✅ available resets ⏳ grant date 📅 expiry date Helpful if you want to use resets before they disappear. #Codex #OpenAI

Beginning July 1, 2026, families with a household income below $225K will be eligible to receive $100 per adult through the new Alberta Energy Rebate. The rebate will put revenue collected from high energy prices back in the hands of Albertans to help with the costs of fuel and other household needs. Higher energy prices don't just affect what people pay at the pump. They can increase the cost of groceries, utilities and other household expenses. Our UCP government is delivering more savings with more flexibility, to meet the challenges families are facing today. Learn more and how to sign up here: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…

The Canadian who set up a $583/month automatic contribution to an index fund inside their TFSA at 25 and never touched it will have approximately $2,100,000 tax free at 65. Your future self will either thank you or wish you had started sooner.

🔥 LMAO! President Trump: "We have Space Force cameras on every single door [in Iran]..." "If somebody walks in and he's got a badge with his name on it, like 'Mohammed Something'—which is about a 50/50 guess—Mohammed Something." 🤣 "They can tell the name! They can give you a serial number. We can see things you wouldn't believe with the quality of the stuff we have."
