Have we considered the fact that maybe Griffin and McGonigle would rather just play pro ball than go to college and that is why college baseball is a good product?
Baseball America@BaseballAmerica

"Konnor Griffin would have been LSU's shortstop." "Kevin McGonigle would have anchored Auburn's infield." Under MLB's latest CBA proposal, college baseball would get an infusion of the top talent that currently signs straight out of high school. More from @jjcoop36 here: buff.ly/m6YOFld

@HornTakes @PackTheRic @WallaceCreed24 Look man. You want to be right. Cool. But a team is highly paying hitting coaches to keep them from being mlb hitting coaches. Bc they are investing in development. Colleges aren’t poaching mlb hitting coaches on the regular.

Fair enough. But that still isn’t a “big league” coach. It’s an A ball coach that gets paid a lot. The point lost in all of this is that college baseball coaching and facilities are leaps and bounds better than they were just a few years ago and playing in college has a lot more benefits than playing in the bottom end of the minors.

@HornTakes @PackTheRic @WallaceCreed24 Some of the highest paid hitting coaches are in the minors. At least the smart teams do that. The Braves have had the same hitting instructors at Augusta (low A) for 4-5 seasons. Pay them comparable to mlb instructors. It’s where they leave kids the longest to learn to hit

@PackTheRic @AllAmPotatoes @WallaceCreed24 And I’m pretty sure in my very next reply I said the kid in A ball is not working with big league coaches and players and I know you then changed the messaging to “professional” which isn’t the same thing. I don’t know much about this but at least I’m not moving the goalposts.

I need the big time soccer fans to help me out here Is this USA team really good, or is our group easy compared to other groups? (Or maybe both?) Regardless, these first two games have been fun 🇺🇸

@AllAmPotatoes @WallaceCreed24 They spend all summer and fall doing all those things. The fallacy in your argument is that college players aren’t being developed at major programs year round.

@HornTakes @WallaceCreed24 Or actively learning a new type of pitch during the season. Hurston Waldrep learned a cutter and 2seam during the season in AAA. At FL he threw 4seam/Curve/Split. Bc he could overpower kids. He developed in the Braves system.

@HornTakes @WallaceCreed24 Manage innings. Types of pitches thrown. Focus more on process rather than results. Ex. Braves will have guys focus on certain secondary pitches. Such as a slider. And not throw a curve in games.

@WallaceCreed24 Are we seriously pretending that playing Low and High A ball is 1. Better for a player’s development than playing for a major D1 program and 2. more attractive to HS players than playing for a major D1 program?

@LT1650 Love it, but Owners going opposite way They are blatantly trying to discriminate against American players bc the can more easily exploit Carribean players Ex 1A: Acuna contract

With the MLB proposal today here’s a thought and just mine and only mine. 50 rounds, after the 25 round the picks from 26-50 go to independent teams across the USA. MLB teams keep rookie ball, AA and AAA. This is where they pull their fruit to the Bigs. The independent teams run

The #Braves tonight acquired C Joey Bart from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for RHP Hunter Stratton. To make room on the 40-man roster, Atlanta designated C Sandy León for assignment.

Trade buzz is definitely warranted, but y’all need to give up on the idea that we’re getting CJ Abrams. The Nats are not moving him to anybody if they want to compete, let alone a divisional opponent.

@ShortStopBall Misiorowski will probably have a 12 K night against our lineup. Jake, I don't know how but I don't think AA can wait until the trading deadline to upgrade the team.

I would expect the MLBPA to reject the elimination of high school draft picks and raising the international signing age. Delaying players’ path to MLB and then having them reach free agency at an older age is a negative for players.
Dj Heeney@HeeneyDj

@BenBadler @jjcoop36 Cant see how the players agree to this

@BeaneaterB Could also argue that it is two less games when the team is playing its worst. And the roster will not be the same in august

Must read from @jjcoop36. MLB wants to end high school draft picks, shorten the draft even more, raise the international signing age and implement more changes. Goal No. 1 for MLB: Save owners money.
Baseball America@BaseballAmerica

BREAKING: In a new proposal to the MLBPA, MLB has proposed sweeping changes to amateur baseball, including... No more high school draftees A shortened 12-round draft New international draft Details: baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-se…
