@themaddierune Hm. I find it worse when they choose a British actor to play "Southern", & they butcher it. Tom Wilkinson (RIP), an actor I otherwise enjoy when I see him, was cast for LBJ a few years back. & his Southern did not sound natural at all.

No actor has ever successfully done a Southern accent. Not a single one. I swear they have invented an entirely new dialect that no human being has ever spoken on earth. As someone who was born and raised in the deep south, I literally cringe when I hear it, and I immediately stop watching. We feel it in our BONES. Something about it is deeply personal and I can't fully explain why.

All embryos do not start out as female. & I'm aware that men & women have both testosterone & estrogen, just in different amounts. But taking more estrogen will not make a male female, & taking testosterone will not make a male female But for purposes of the joke I was making, "cross-sex hormones" is a thing. Enjoy!

@ApexOppressor @sunnkssdseraph I am explaining to you that our cells react to all of those hormones and our bodies produce them all, just in different amounts. That is why a XX embryo can develop into a male just by having one gene that would increase the concentration of androgens during development.

This might be controversial but why can the transgender community safely take high doses of estrogen or testosterone, but a menopausal woman is told no because it causes cancer, heart attacks or stroke?

The 80s were a GREAT decade for movie-making, but lots of 'classics' are extremely overrated. Any short list of surprisingly bad 'classics' would include Blade Runner, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Color Purple, Return of the Jedi, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (ack) and Body Double.
