Two Afghan Nationals Charged with Rape of Woman in Sherford, Plymouth Two men have appeared in court charged with the rape of a woman at a residential property in Sherford. Hashmat Miakhel, 31, and Sayed Hoshmand, 19, both Afghan nationals living in Plymouth, appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court this afternoon. The pair are accused of raping a woman at a property on Falcon Mews in Sherford in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026. Police believe the victim and the two men first met in the North Hill area of Plymouth before travelling to the Sherford address. Both men were remanded into custody and are next due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on June 1, for a pre-trial hearing. Police cordoned off properties at the scene following the incident, with officers remaining in the area as part of their investigation. Detective Inspector Katy Deer of Devon & Cornwall Police said: “We understand this incident will cause concern in the local community and we would like to reassure residents that we have a team of detectives working on the investigation.” She urged people not to speculate while court proceedings are ongoing. The investigation continues.
