Notorious Bandit Kingpin’s Mother, Sister Jailed 40 Years for Aiding T+rror Activities  The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the mother and sister of notorious bandit kingpin, Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo, to 40 years imprisonment for their roles in supporting his t+rrorist activities. The convicts, Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi, were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and found guilty of aiding and concealing the activities of the late t+rrorist leader, who was k+lled by security forces in Kogi State on June 10, 2026. Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa handed down the sentence on Friday after both women pleaded guilty to t+rrorism-related charges filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation. According to the court, the duo admitted to aiding Battujo by passing information to him through phone conversations. They also confessed to concealing crucial information that could have helped security agencies apprehend him. While Battujo’s mother, Halima Abdullahi, pleaded guilty to hiding information about her son’s activities, his sister, Safiya Salihu, admitted she saw f+rearms during a visit to his forest camp but failed to alert authorities. The women were initially facing five counts, including receiving N490,300 believed to be proceeds of t+rrorism and accepting Hajj sponsorship allegedly funded by t+rrorist proceeds.  However, the prosecution asked the court to strike out those counts, leading to their discharge on those charges. Justice Yilwa sentenced them to 20 years imprisonment on each of the counts they were convicted on but ordered that the sentences run concurrently, meaning they will spend 20 years in prison before undergoing rehabilitation. The ruling marks another major conviction in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against t+rrorism and banditry.
