@Citizen_MKE Regardless of the number of polling places, Milwaukee had about 20% more voters (poll worker to voter ratio is a more useful metric). Did you ask the Madison budget office how many of those poll workers worked half days (as permitted by Wis. Stat. § 7.30(1))?

I got a response from their budget office. The short answer is that Madison hired nearly 2500 election workers for the 2022 fall general election, while Milwaukee only budgeted 2200

I did reach out to Madison's budget office to see about more details for their personnel budget, to make sure high level administration staff are excluded, but still, it certainly seems like Madison could save a lot of money by moving to central count operations like Milwaukee

@Ck @PorchChat @badachie I’ve had a few voters attempt to return their ballot at the polling place and while that particular ballot wasn’t accepted (and was spoiled), they are able to vote in person without any issue
