@SarahRBader An uncharitable opinion presented as an objective truth claim is not exposing the truth. It’s just slander. Christians are called to be charitable. Especially to each other.

What a joy to preach this morning at Redemption Church in Ogden, UT—a @NAMB church led by pastors trained at our Southern Baptist Seminaries. They had three full services this morning. They have planted four churches in the past few years with mor to come. They unveiled a new stage built by partners with @sendrelief. Also, Southern Baptists from Montana were there for the weekend to help the church reach one of the most unchurched regions in our country. Grateful to @bobbewould for the opportunity to preach on gospel-centered partnership. This is the kind of Kingdom work that reminds you what God is doing across North America through our cooperative work—I wish every Southern Baptist could see it firsthand.

@CPresbyterian73 @ZimaInFlorida That doesn’t resemble what you said in the first place, and you should look further into the evidence, both from the Presbytery and from the involvement of the sheriffs office before you make these confident pronouncements. Again, glad you’re not on a session anywhere

I was talking to another elder from St Andrews and he confirmed through July 2025 concerns or police reports on the Nichols were never shared with the session St Andrews once. These actions related to the Nichols were taken by a few people while they reported to Burk Parsons.

@CPresbyterian73 @ZimaInFlorida Every detail of an accusation of childhood sexual abuse should definitely be reported to the elders. WOW. I’m glad you’re not on a session.

@ZimaInFlorida I’m not on a session, but I can’t imagine every detail about every person is shared with the group. I share with my elders but I don’t expect they are telling each other about my conversation. That’s gossip.

One of the easiest ways @albertmohler could raise the standard for Christian ministry is to restore a meaningful dress code at Southern. What we wear shapes how we think. And it would instantly lift the culture, expectations, and seriousness of those preparing for the pulpit.

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but some (most?) Christian couples who are engaged in pre-marital sex SHOULD NOT get married and instead should simply stop having sex. I feel like that needed to be said.

So having seen the longer quote, it's clear he's talking about the economy of redemption and its impact on prayer. "Equally" means something like "worship them identically, with no distinct recognition of their roles in redemption." He's essentially channeling Lewis's argument in Mere Christianity about the different roles the members of the Godhead take in prayer (to the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit). I get that this would require a charitable interpretation of the phrase, and you're not going to do that because "Doug is Bad." But there you have it.

It’s very difficult to get so much wrong in one tweet, but Dr. Yarnell was up to the task. 1) As CBS pointed out, Colbert didn’t want to give equal airtime to Talarico’s opponent Jasmine Crockett, and so didn’t broadcast the interview on television. 2) Doug is orthodox on the Trinity, affirming Nicea, Chalcedon, and Westminster straight no chaser. Doug did read Rushdoony with benefit, so he’s closer on that one. But if this is the caliber of theological education and cultural application at Southwestern Seminary, some folks need to be asking for their money back.
Malcolm Yarnell@MusingsOnChrist

Two events yesterday portray alternate futures for American Christianity: 1) a Liberal whose interview was suppressed by media fearful of the State, and 2) a Reconstructionist with errant teachings of the Trinity hosted by the State. Neither “Christian” approach is acceptable.

I’d never heard of Paul until this “controversy” graced my feed so take this with a grain of salt but this still seems like poor leadership to me The fact that his congregants seem to feel like they need to wait in line for hours to talk to him and only him smacks of sacerdotalism, and even if there’s not a whiff of self-glorification in this man’s entire body, it still seems like a failure of the elders to not lead the congregation more effectively such that he isn’t hideously overburdened

True story. At Grace Community Church, Paul Washer preached during the evening service. After the service, GCC had what is referred to as “plaza fellowship,” where the congregation is encouraged to fellowship with one another in their spacious courtyard. 1/4
PaulsCorner-VerseQuest@TNTJohn1717

🚨‼️I have watched Paul Washer for years, and the thing that always rises to the surface is not the strength of Christ but the shadow of Paul Washer himself. The tone is constantly mournful, trembling, almost as though the gospel were a funeral instead of the good news of a finished redemption. The Bible says, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4), yet listening to Paul Washer you would think the dominant mark of spirituality is emotional collapse. Brokenness has its place, but when brokenness becomes the brand, something is out of balance. The New Testament believer is not called to live under a perpetual cloud of despair but in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free (Galatians 5:1). What troubles me is the subtle impression left behind. Paul Washer never says he is the standard, yet the atmosphere of his preaching suggests that unless you feel what he feels, cry like he cries, and tremble like he trembles, you must be a second-rate Christian. That is not how the Holy Ghost measures a man. Scripture measures us by faith in the finished work of Christ, not by emotional intensity. Some of the strongest saints in the Bible spoke plainly, calmly, and without theatrics. Paul the apostle wrote with authority, not with theatrical anguish. The fruit of the Spirit is not spiritual exhaustion; it is love, joy, peace, and a sound mind. Another concern is how Paul Washer often emphasizes the weakness of the believer without equally magnifying the sufficiency of the Saviour. Yes, we are weak in ourselves, but the gospel message is that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). Constantly telling redeemed people they are miserable failures without lifting their eyes to their new identity in Christ produces bondage, not holiness. The devil is the accuser of the brethren, not the Comforter. When preaching leaves the saint more focused on self-loathing than on the blood of Jesus Christ, the balance has tipped in the wrong direction. I am not saying Paul Washer has never spoken truth, but truth out of proportion becomes error. God never called preachers to make His children feel perpetually unworthy after the cross has declared them accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6). The gospel does not chain a man to the floor of his emotions; it raises him to walk in newness of life. We need preaching that exalts Christ more than it dramatizes human misery. If a message leaves you admiring Paul Washer’s intensity more than the grace of Jesus Christ, then something has gone sideways. The cure for Laodicea is not spiritual theatrics; it is a clear trumpet that points sinners and saints alike to the sufficiency of the Lord Jesus Christ.

@lukedsimmons @Bezner Foolishness often leads to both sin as well as destruction, and not only for the fool. And the stakes could not be higher with this particular time and this particular foolish man in the WH.

Last night I saw an exchange on here in which a pastor (whom I respect) asked for 3-5 examples of things the government is doing that is worse than protestors interrupting worship. Wanted to take a moment to respond to that for a wider audience for a couple of reasons. (1/16)

If Christ were on earth today he'd say something like "If any man come to me, and loves not his own, his family, and his community, and his country, and his race, yea, even above his own life, he cannot be my disciple."

After all, David Sills was suing for defamation because the “nonconsensual” claim made him unemployable. Here he is, in 2024, itching to lead again. He feels so qualified even though, later that year, he’d be blocking the deposition of a second victim.

“Now that the #MeToo framework applies in this case has been undermined by these revelations…” What? WHAT?!! The issue between Lyell and Sills centers upon shady “family ministry” intentions, and predatory professors. Vulnerable young women, and manipulative men.
