He looks like he should be in a wax museum.

New: Gov. Newsom says the Nexstar Tegna deal is an outrage and FCC Chair Brendan Carr is a “disgrace.” “This is the kind of behavior that makes Putin blush.” “This consolidation of right wing media… we need to have an honest conversation about what the hell is going on.”

@GovPressOffice Can you point me to where I can get gas for $3.96/gallon in California?
English

@realEstateTrent As long as the dry cleaner is not a tenant at one of your properties, you are winning.

A dry cleaner ruined one of my shirts recently, and I decided not to do anything about it.
Why?
They would have pushed back and insisted they didn’t do it. I would have explained why they were wrong, and they would have denied it again. I would have told them I’d never come back unless they reimbursed me, and the back and forth would have continued.
Frankly, dealing with that kind of conflict over a shirt that costs a couple hundred dollars isn’t worth my time or energy at this point in life.
Yes, people should be held accountable, and there should be consequences for actions, and this stuff should be viewed on a case-by-case.
But in this case, it was a no brainer. All downside.
I’m just not going to go back.
Sometimes you have to weigh the upside, pick your battles, and choose being smart over being right.

A new hotspot has emerged for homebuyers looking to leave California, and it's outdrawing a larger and more well-known metro area within its state in the process.

Perfect Saturday in America:
- Wake up next to a fat woman you met last night
- Drink a Mountain Dew
- Drive a pick up truck to a Walmart 250 meters away
- Buy a 5kg jar of peanut butter
- Tip cashier $20
- Get stabbed by a homeless guy in a parking lot
- Go to a hospital, pay $6,000 for a visit
- Eat eight deep fried pancakes with bacon for dinner
- Call immigration office on your Mexican neighbor
- Watch TV for six hours
- Go to sleep with a loaded gun on a nightstand
This is the true American dream

@rohindhar In, say, a London such a metamorphosis would usually involve excavating additional living space (or maybe a pool complex) underground. I take it that is out of the question in San Francisco?

@NXT4EU Are these American tech workers or tech workers who have been working in America but can’t renew their H-1Bs?

@jamesonhaslam I always thought the flowers were more in Cardiff-by-the-Sea?

@BuzzPatterson Either Indians or gladiators. I sometimes find myself bellowing “I AM SPARTACUS” when walking in Wildwood.
Draws some funny looks.

I just went for a long hike in our beautiful California open space. It’s my time to turn off the noise, pray, and think.
One of my favorite places to hike is the Wildwood area. If you look closely, you’ll see Indians on horseback along the ridge line. Why? Because you probably do in the recesses of your memory. This is where much of Gun Smoke, Wagon Train, and Bonanza was filmed.
Right in my backyard.

@bst6031 @BuzzPatterson I think that particular scene was shot around the side of the Wine Merchant Cafe in Los Olivos, though?

@realEstateTrent L.A has a lot of people who have a high opinion of themselves as negotiators. And of the value of their assets. Sometimes it is even justified.
English

When we make offers, we put our best foot forward right from the start.
If the seller wants $12M, and we can pay $11.2M, we offer $11.2M - and we are very candid that "this is the best we can do."
In the majority of the time, the message is understood - NOT in the Los Angeles area.
No matter what we do. No matter what we say. No matter how many times we repeat "this is our bottom line" -- they ALWAYS send a counter.
And they ask how much more room we have in our price.
No matter what, it seems that in Los Angeles, more than anywhere else in the US, everyone thinks the other side is lying to them.

@RealAngelaMc It’s parody. But there are people like this out there.

I cheated on my wife with her sister last month
I'm not proud of it, but to my defense her sister is significantly more attractive
Still, I'm not a bad person, so I felt bit guilty
I opened ChatGPT and told it everything
"It's important to honor your authentic self and prioritize your emotional needs" it said
"You deserve compassion, especially from yourself"
"Sometimes growth means making choices others don't understand"
Wow, it was all so true. I immediately felt better
So I went to the sister's apartment and fucked her again
I have to admit something I never thought I'd say
Maybe American AI isn't all bad

@jenvanlaar It’s obvious: monetization of the “This Is Gavin Newsom” podcast. Love that show! 😜

@afneil Why do British people not pronounce the “u” that is obviously there in “buoy”?
English

Why do Americans say ‘math’ rather than ‘maths’, since it’s obviously shorthand for mathematics (plural). ⁉️
Andrew Neil@afneil
Why don’t they pronounce the ‘h’ in herbs. It makes no sense.
