(re?)reading Gendler's Alief and Belief and it turns out a lot of the theoretical backing comes from priming studies. Oops.

reminded again that Goldman's distinction between historical and current time-slice theories of justification is way more important than most of the other distinctions in the vicinity, yet it is so rarely talked about explicitly.

@rbnmckenna86 Just out of curiosity: is this a criticism? FWIW, I think you're definitely describing a type of common analytic philosophy paper. But I could name a couple of examples of this type of paper that I actually enjoyed reading.

Looking back at papers I wrote during grad school, they all start with "desiderata" for a theory of X, or a puzzle/tension. When did analytic philosophers start writing like this, and why?

On my way to Geneva for my three-month research stay. Feeling a bit melancholic as many changes settle in and the summer comes to an end. Let's see what mysteries life has in store for me.

@rbnmckenna86 Yes, this makes sense to me! It's also the empirical study of philosophically relevant folk concepts. I don't know if it would count as 'hyper non-ideal' though... it may depend on the empirical data at issue

@DMortini Realised right after posting that there’s also psychology. I guess x phi, or a lot of it, is something like the psychology of philosophical judgements?

Coming round to the idea that the two good things are hyper-ideal theory (usually formal) and hyper non-ideal theory (basically case studies) and everything else is usually a mistake.

@m_kortabarria I see, then it's an even more difficult choice! 😫 About Synthese: is publishing twice in the same journal discouraged? I must confess that I still don't understand this. Alternatively: AJP, PQ and Ergo are competitive but very well-run journals. And Theoria (Spain) is also a Q1

@DMortini Those were my options but I already published in synthese and the article was desk-rejected from inquiry and rejected from erkenntnis. It is also too long for analysis...

Does anyone have any recommendations of Q1 journals that publish on metaphysics topics (e.g. grounding and fundamentalism) with a reasonably short turnaround time and that are not impossible to access?
