We’ve seen this playbook for generations. More fines, more arrests, more surveillance of the same neighborhoods, never more resources. If Alders want to keep our young people safe, the answer is clear: fully fund our schools, expand youth employment, invest in park programs and libraries, and open social spaces that are safe and resourced. That’s what helps young people thrive. Criminalizing students and their parents does not.

My very first morning filming Detention in LA, which was supposed to be an $800k shoot, Iatse showed up with a ballot box and said the crew was going to "vote" to turn it union or I get shut down. I had no choice but to flip it and spent the rest of the shoot scrambling to find money every three days. After it was done, my own DGA union kept sending me bills to pay for fines on a movie I spent my own money on. Of course all this expanded my budget which then put me in another tier of SAG which then increased the budget again. It was an endless union squeeze that kept pushing the budget up, with me holding the bill. As they say in Goodfellas, Fuck You Pay Me.

chud will hopefully be out next week. the only thing keeping him in is the failure to appear warrant. even though he was in davidson county’s custody the night before court & then was relinquished back into montgomery county as part of what seems to be a pre-planned plot to keep him in as long as possible. once out, chud will be evicted from the home he’s lived in for 10 years. we are looking for a new place to live, as he is now being ordered by the court to report the address of where he will be. any donations to help fund our move and daily expenses in the meantime is greatly appreciated. -alexis
