Small businesses need to feel seen, today, in the Spring Forecast speech. From next month, they will shoulder a huge increase in energy, employment (and tax) costs stemming from policy decisions. @fsb_policy has set this out clearly to the Chancellor, Treasury, No.10 and DBT - we are not one of the business groups saying 'dull is better' today, for our members and community. 🔋Grants for businesses and households to help with the cost of installing charge points for electric vehicles have been given an extra lease of life. ⚡The Department for Transport has announced that, from 1 April, grants of up to £500 for installing charge points will be available for businesses, landlords, and others, up from the previous limit of £350, and available until March 2027. 💡Many small businesses want to switch to electric vehicles, with half of small businesses (51%) saying that more charging infrastructure would incentivise them to make the switch. 🌍Small firms want to cut their emissions and reduce their fuel bills, and removing or lowering the barriers which currently tip the scales against electric vehicle adoption can only be a good thing – for small businesses, for the economy and for the planet.

Employment costs are far too high, and it’s deterring small firms from hiring young people.
