You were doing so well right up to the point of making demands! "It's in our national security interest" nonetheless, hubris dictates we make demands. When the US pulls out of NATO, the largest threat will not be from Russia, it will be spoiled, petulant, "allies" that won't do what is right without Daddy tapping his foot and looking annoyed. Give it 2 generations before WW3 will start between "allies" who still can't get along unchaperoned...

I think all the European NATO countries should agree to help the US with its war in Iran in every way possible, since it is in our national security interest to obtain a regime change in Iran, put an end to Iran's nuclear program, and destroy its ballistic missiles program, but only on the conditions that: 1. Trump stops supporting Russia in the peace negotiations with Ukraine 2. The US resumes its military support for Ukraine 3. Trump stops all talks about leaving NATO 4. Trump starts acting like a friend and ally instead of consistently insulting all European leaders

I had pin worms as a kid. The sandbox at my elementary school (Huntington Beach, CA) was frequented by neigborhood cats. They raked it but the worm eggs stayed. Several kids got them... You can inhale the eggs in the dust..and the way you were diagnosed was to have someone shine a flashlight at your bunghole in the middle of the night when they were active. Good times...

If the United States truly thinks about withdrawing from NATO, then European security will be based solely on the European Union. But not in its current form. I think that the EU is in a situation where it needs more countries. The UK, Ukraine, Türkiye, and Norway. These are four strong countries, which are part of Europe. Together, the UK, Ukraine, and Türkiye have armies that are stronger than Russia's army. Without Ukraine and Türkiye, Europe can’t match Russia. With the four countries on board you can wrest control of the seas, have secure skies and the largest land forces. It’s not about offense, because when Russia makes the decision to have an army of 2.5 million people by 2030, Europe has to think about security and how to preserve its independence. The UK once was a member of the EU. There are concerns about agriculture when it comes to Türkiye. But you can manage all of this if you have a really great economy. But security comes first, economy second. Not vice versa. From an interview on The Rest Is Politics podcast (5/5).

@iakmahavar @The_Banned_Vids US MICH/ACH will stop a 9mm at close range. They are rated at .44mag which is faster, heavier, and carries more than twice the energy of a NATO 9mm loaded 124gr. at 1200fps. There is no real discussion to be made about that. It's just a fact.

@The_Banned_Vids A 9mm pistol shot from close range can pierce any helmet, helmet's can't save you from a rifle's fire , because they have to build it light weight . it's carbon fiber . that's why it's just shifting shape but not tearing up like plastic

The math works both ways on that. Their paradigm translated into today's money was a $386,000 mortgage at 14% A $4574 payment today. At today's 6.37% rate that would get a $734,000 house for the same payment. ...and at 3% rates of 4 years ago your home would be around $1.1M for the same payment. I don't get how you can pretend the purchasing power isn't right in line with today's numbers...

Had a conversation today with a classic elbows-up boomer. We got onto mortgages, so I asked if she still had one. She said no, she paid it off about 30 years ago. I asked how, and she said she and her husband barely went out in the 1980s. Only a few times a year for birthdays and their anniversary. Her takeaway was that young people today spend too much. I pushed back. I told her a lot of younger people do not go out much at all because they simply cannot afford to. The ones who are financially careful already know this. Then I asked what they originally paid for their house. She said $50,000, with an interest rate around 15 percent. I asked about her husband’s income. He had a PhD and earned about $14,000 a year. I checked the numbers using the Bank of Canada inflation calculator. That $14,000 salary in 1972 works out to roughly $108,000 today. So despite the high interest rate, they were dealing with a much cheaper house relative to income, and their purchasing power was stronger than what a six-figure salary gets you now. There are some who aren’t like that, but most of them are.
Jess@jessgill03

Too many boomers have this really toxic assumption that young people are unable to afford a house because they’re lazy and don’t work hard. Most young people I know are working full time specialised jobs, having the majority of their salary swallowed by renting (despite it being a flatshare) taxes and cost of living. It’s almost impossible for young people nowadays, without the help of their family, to afford a house. And then they get blamed for having a Netflix subscription or getting the odd takeaway as if saving that £300 a year would let them afford a £20,000 deposit.

I have a friend who’s never been hungover in his life but drinks like a 22-year-old on spring break basically every weekend. He Ran the United Half after 14 drinks the night before 8:30 mile pace so he’s not a fat piece of shit Has put up 20+ drinks in a night and wakes up like nothing happened. He’s been like this since college. Is this elite genetics or is his body just saving up one catastrophic hangover when he’s like 40? (He’s 29 right now) SOS anyone seen this before?

Alcohol - I live a beach life where it's the norm to have nightly cocktails with friends, and drinking at noon on the weekends is just a normal weekend boat day. Giving up alcohol required giving up most of my friends and almost all of my social life. Mostly because when you're sober, drunk people are boring, annoying, and it's not fun to be around them.

Hunter Biden says he’s drowning in debt — and doesn’t see a way out. “I’ve got, I don’t know, $14–$15 million in debt that I have no idea that I’m going to be able to pay off.” He points to massive legal fees, falling income, and mounting financial pressure. Biden also pushed back on the idea that his family has wealth to fall back on: “We have no generational wealth.”
