@GamesNosh On one hand, wow that is insanely terrible! On the other hand, sounds like it MIGHT be an overlooked market for indies, but I'll have to look more into it.

Arcades are so embarrassing now, I just walked past one, it was a bunch of crappy mobile games from like 2015 pretending to be arcade machines. Jetpack Joyride, Crossy Road & Candy Crush..BUT AS ARCADE MACHINES. Who the hell would pay £1 to play that junk for 30 seconds?!

@VK_HM @St1ka I went and played Dune 2, knowing it was where the RTS genre started, and WOW. It is crazy just how many key mechanics and systems of RTS was already there. To the point where I feel like you could call Starcraft 2 (and almost every other RTS), a Dune-like.

@FreckledLiberty It would've been better if she actually apologized, but in today's day and age, that is pure fantasy so this is the best we can realistically hope for.

Microsoft is apparently finally admitting that what many users have wanted all along is a faster, quieter, more dependable operating system. Not more Copilot. In a new Windows Insider post, Microsoft’s Pavan Davuluri laid out a broad quality push for Windows 11 centered on performance, reliability, and what the company calls “craft.” More likely, it's what Steve Jobs called "taste", if you remember THAT interview... And honestly, a lot of it reads like Microsoft finally sat down, opened Feedback Hub, and decided to take the complaints seriously. The headline changes are exactly the kind of practical fixes power users have been asking for: taskbar repositioning to the top or sides of the screen, fewer forced update interruptions, more control over when updates install, faster File Explorer, lower baseline memory usage, better search responsiveness, fewer notifications, and more reliable drivers and wake behavior. Microsoft also says it is reducing “unnecessary Copilot entry points,” starting with apps like Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad. The Windows Update story is interesting.... Microsoft says it wants updates to be less disruptive, with a move toward a single monthly reboot, the ability to restart or shut down without being forced to install u-pdates, and the option to pause updates for as long as needed. That is a major philosophical shift from the old “we know what’s best, enjoy your reboot” era, even if the real test will be how consistently Microsoft follows through in shipping builds. Performance also seems to be getting real attention instead of marketing lip service. Microsoft says Windows 11 will reduce its own resource usage, improve memory efficiency, make File Explorer quicker and more dependable, and lower latency by moving more core experiences to WinUI 3. The company specifically calls out Start menu responsiveness, search consistency, faster file operations, and a smoother overall feel under load. That is the sort of engineering work users notice every single day, even if it doesn’t make for a shiny keynote demo. My personal benchmark is to be able to type 'Download" into the Start menu and have it find my Downloads folder. Not a Bing search for a Copilot download. The Copilot pullback is equally interesting because it suggests Microsoft has realized there is a difference between useful AI and AI sprayed across every available surface. The company is not abandoning Copilot, but it is dialing back what it describes as unnecessary integration points. That sounds a lot less like “AI everywhere” and a lot more like “maybe Notepad didn’t need to become a sentient billboard.” The most encouraging part of all this is the tone. Microsoft is not pitching this as a revolution. It is pitching it as a cleanup, stabilization, and giving users more control. And that may be exactly what Windows 11 needs. After years of feeling like the operating system was being used to push services, experiments, and mandatory behavior, this looks like a return to a simpler idea: Windows should serve the user, not manage them. I, for one, still advocate for Windows Pro having NO advertisements, bloatware, or needless telemetry. Make people pay, then quit asking for more. But I've been barking up THAT tree for years. Now the obvious catch: these are commitments and previews, not a completed turnaround. Microsoft has promised a lot here, but Windows users have long memories. This is probably still the best Windows news in a while, because it focuses on the fundamentals: Faster. More reliable. Less noisy. More customizable. Less pushy.

@King_Sukunaaa None of these things were designed by someone specialized in art, specifically for the door maker, blacksmith, or whoever to follow. These were designed AND made by the craftsmen themselves. Art degree holders don't know how to make a door, or craft a lamppost.

@chionerin "It's just a kid's movie! It doesn't have to be good!" I HATE this attitude so much. It opens the door for very dangerous ideas to be put into kid's heads. It's the mental equivalent to "It's just kid food! Who cares if it's ultraprocessed and full of sugar? They like it!"

Why did we stop making kids movies with good stories? I grew up with movies like Bambi where he lost his mother. Or the Iron Giant about self sacrifice and friendship. Even as recently as Cars self improvement and building community. I honestly feel so bad for children growing up now they dont have any role models they can look to or any place they can see good role models so they have to turn to YouTuber and youtube slop. Im very very happy that Angel Studios has been working on making good movies with morals and mature themes. Its refreshing. What is a movie you loved growing up that fundamentally changed you as a person? Mine was Lilo and Stitch. When you feel like you have no one you always have your family. 🤍🐻

@TheLaurenChen I recall back in 2012 reading about a college student doing a calorie experiment on himself. He only ate Twinkies and carefully counted his calories. He lost weight, showing that you can eat absolute junk, but if you are calorie deficit you will lose weight.

At one point in college, I had an obese roommate. After a few weeks, she complained about how lucky I was to be thin, since I ate more than her. The thing is, however, that I absolutely did not eat more than her, in terms of calories or just amount of food. She put ranch on everything. 600 calorie drinks. Endless snacking. Maybe my plate was more full than hers at dinner, but it was obvious tp everyone but her that she was consuming more throughout the day. I'm sorry, but after multiple instances of this happening with other overweight people, I just don't trust when someone heavy insists they're in caloric deficit. Maybe some people lose weight faster than others. For sure. But it's simple science that if calories out exceed calories in, you WILL lose weight.

@anymanfitness I ate 1200 for 44 days straight. Measured and weighed everything. I gained weight. I wish was I kidding.

MAGA Republicans want to make it harder to vote than to buy an AR-15. They want Americans’ information run through an algorithm designed by Musk and DOGE that could kick eligible voters off the rolls. They want to turn voter registration into a bureaucratic nightmare and limit how people can register. That’s the SAVE Act, and that's why Democrats will fight it until the end.

@SideScrollerPod @darlingstrawbie @Rev_says_desu I can kinda see it. Ranch is a creamy dressing that can neutralize the acidic tomato sauce. I've also seen people put Ranch on their pizza, so similar concept to that. However, I hate Ranch so I still agree that it is wrong to do! Now blue cheese dressing on the other hand... ;)

@SandyofCthulhu What if there was a game like quidditch, 7v7, BUT it was actually 1v1 game, where the other 6 players are auto-battler AIs that you can upgrade/change between matches. So all the focus is on the player to get the Snitch, but you can go for different tactics based on your team.

The golden snitch is a terrible rule for a real game. Imagine a game in which you have 7 players on your team. Six players are plugging along, fighting to win the game and then all of a sudden one of the two seventh players wins everything and all you did was a waste. BUT, Rowling wasn't designing a game. She was designing a part of her world she used to add drama & tension. The function of the Seeker & the Snitch was to put Harry in a position of both importance and danger. In that regard it works fine. 1/4

@CoffeeBeansDev A lot of players have been burned on early access, so I imagine the wishlist conversion rate will be weaker than for a normal launch. You should get second wave of wishlists converting once you fully launch. Based on review counts, you're doing much better than most! Good luck!

@plasmarob Because back when they first came out with box cake mixes, it was just add water, and women felt guilty like they were cheating at cooking. So they changed the label to advise adding an egg and suddenly it started selling really well. Actual research went into this.

@elonmusk @WallStreetMav Question about term limits: Has ANY of the proposed benefits of it come to pass with the presidency? Or does it just turn into a revolving door for faceless groups to organize and have a lineup for each to "take their turn"? Feels like a bandaid fix that doesn't change anything.
