Having a positive vision for your people is more important than having a negative vision for your enemies. The reason is because the positive vision serves as a Schelling point that allows for organization around policies that build/defend your own AND organize against your enemy

@mauthe_doog I had it on my wishlist to buy. It is no off the wishlist and I'm probably never going to buy since they'll be playing whackamole on the horrid translation for the next year. Should have enforced standards and hired professionals.

Most games' sales are in the first week and unprofessional localisers injecting bizarre references they know the people will hate could have a devastating impact on that. How many people were so turned off by it that they wont bother now?

@ShadowVirg @ZeldaZealot And as I have said again and again I reject the premise that I am obligated to enter a potential suicide pact for others. There are limits to moral obligations to others and other people are responsible for their actions. Conversations done because there's no point anymore.

@General_Cow1 @ZeldaZealot No, you are dodging culpability that is there. Each button comes with two features: * Red votes for death but saves you. * Blue votes for life but only if enough others do. You can't have one without the other. That's the entire premise of the question.

The blue team cope is genuinely hilarious. The social contract doesn’t require suicide
Shadow Virgil@ShadowVirg

@Anton81191831 Each red player is trying to save themselves from the problem that each other red player created by doing the only thing that created the problem that they're trying to save themselves from. Why privilege red as the default state and treat blue as the changed state?

@ShadowVirg @ZeldaZealot The button is actually labelled "don't kill myself" and pressing it is not actively harming other people who have agency for their own actions to press the suicide button. You are making up a moral culpability that is not there.

@General_Cow1 @ZeldaZealot Not doing enough to help is not the same as actively causing harm. You are proposing to kill people by affirmatively pressing a button that is labeled "save me but kill anyone else who doesn't press this button".

@ShadowVirg @ZeldaZealot Why aren't you giving every last dollar you own to the needy? You're killing starving children by not doing that. Why aren't you patrolling the streets for someone who might be dying right now. You're literally killing them by not doing that.

@General_Cow1 @ZeldaZealot I'm not inviting you to a suicide pact, you're inviting me to participate in a mass murder. That you're offering to spare anyone else who's willing to come to your side and fire a gun at those left doesn't make it suicide for me to say "no thanks".

@ShadowVirg @ZeldaZealot Then I recommend they press the red button. I'm not responsible for their actions and choices to enter a suicide pact. There is a limit to obligations to other people and suicide pacts are not a moral obligation no matter how much YOU want to relabel it.

@General_Cow1 @ZeldaZealot A vote for red is a vote to kill all people who voted for blue. Relabeling it suicide doesn't change the fact it's still murder.

@ShadowVirg @ZeldaZealot Metaphor doesn't fit. Again I'm not obligated to enter a suicide pact because the ones in it are suicide baiting me.

@ZeldaZealot It's not suicide. Red is the vote *against* the status quo. Red is a vote *for* death. Blue is just a vote that things stay as they are, with mutual cooperation ensuring collective survival. Red defects from the social contract and kills blue.

I wish I could block everyone who voted "blue" because you've demonstrated that you're incapable of understanding the prisoner's dilemma even when the math is taken out of it

Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@WomanDefiner The only proper response to the blue button pressers is "stop suicide baiting" because thats all this really is.

@General_Cow1 @Dick_McClusky @32nds @mattforney I mean, we can see in places like California and Minessota with their endless corruption. Over there, you have >50% of red button pushers lol. If nobody paid taxes (everyone pushed red), there's no chance for fraud. If over 50% push red, well, you can see what's happening.

@32nds @mattforney Yup blue is deliberately putting themselves into the dilemma and demanding you potentially kill yourself to save them from their choice to out themselves into the situation they're in when you could have both just walked away.

Starting this month, Japan will introduce a "Bachelor Tax." Child-less citizens must pay it, while those with children are exempt. Revenue will support married couples with kids. Do you think this will help reverse Japan's declining birth rates?
