To the contrary. Countermine operations are time-consuming and extremely difficult in contested environments. Unless the US can suppress Iranian fire on the gulf, this is not a solved military problem. Iran possesses one of the largest and most diverse inventories of mines. If they are able to mine the gulf under fire, as they seem to be doing, defending the mine field is relatively easier as long as Iran can hold US countermine assets at risk, and that could be a very long time indeed.
