Oh look. They ran out of radar missiles.

@the_engi_nerd @heatloss1986 So in an era of massed drone and cruise missile attacks, you choose this specific time to remove the only weapon that economically trades with those targets.

There's an old joke in systems biology called "How Biologists Fix a Radio." A biologist, tasked with figuring out why a radio doesn't work, removes components one by one and catalogs the result. Remove this transistor: the radio makes a horrible screeching sound. Conclusion: this is the "horrible screeching transistor." Remove another component: the radio goes silent. Conclusion: this is the "silence transistor." This is essentially what we do with genomics. We see which genes are mutated in cancer and assume they must be "cancer genes." We see which genes are differentially expressed and assume they must be "important." But correlation is not causation, and a parts list is not a circuit diagram. You can have a complete inventory of every resistor, capacitor, and transistor in a radio and still have no idea how it plays music.

I am often shocked by how many seemingly rational academics believe strange, false assertions if they come from places of perceived authority. I don't know many of those people who would actually suggest just believing any odd thing they say just because of their authority.

@trikcode This sounds like symptoms of an industry that isn't that interested in making a profit. We need to seriously ask what the point of an economy even is in the first place.

The hiring process in tech is completely broken. - Round 1: Recruiter screens you for 15 minutes. - Round 2: Technical phone screen. - Round 3: Take-home project. "Should only take 4-6 hours." Takes 20. - Round 4: On-site. 5 back-to-back interviews. - Round 5: "Culture fit" chat with the founder. - Round 6: Reference checks. - Round 7: Waiting. Silence. Ghosted. Meanwhile the guy who got hired knew someone on the team. 6 rounds of interviews defeated by one LinkedIn connection.

Imagine a swarm of 100 of these, all with explosive payloads, attacking you from all directions and elevations at 400 km/hr. That is the ultimate drone defense challenge and I think you need some kind of rapid fire AI controlled gun battery to succeed. You probably have 3 seconds to shoot in total.

direct kinetic impact. a flying sword. 450km/h. updated video showing exactly that. we're also working on the explosive variant. only for authorized partners. dms are open.

Activist: "The water usage for beef is obscene. Thousands of litres per kilogram." Farmer: "That's rainfall." Activist: "What?" Farmer: "The figure includes all the rain that falls on the pasture. The cows drink from the stream. The rain falls whether there's a cow here or not." Activist: "It's still water consumption." Farmer: "Should I stop the rain falling on my field?" Activist: "Grow crops instead. More efficient." Farmer: "This is a 35-degree slope in the Welsh hills. Show me the crop." Activist: "Technology..." Farmer: "To make tractors climb mountains?" Activist: "There must be a solution." Farmer: "There is. It's called a cow." Activist: [checks phone]

Kharg Island, off the coast of Iran, is a real map in Battlefield 3 and 5,000 US Marines are heading there right now. I'm gonna play it this weekend as geopolitical research. Then I'm going to post with authority about the war.

Biological and agricultural engineering is all one department at the University of Arkansas, which means every time I walk past their lounge I see women who look like this next to men that look like that

@The_Real_ITDUDE F-22 looks like it's in afterburner. F-35 looks like it's in cruise. For reference, here's an F-16. I don't see any difference with the F-35 one.

Iran hasn't even gotten started. It's like when Operation barbarosa was roled back to Berlin and the Ottoman invasion of Austria that resulted in the seige of Vienna. The Iranians will start an expansionist groundwar when the American empire is stranded in the Middle East without fuel to Annexe iraq, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Syria, Lebanon, the Arab Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia. The Persian empire will be back with a vengeance in 2027. I wouldn't be surprised if every Israeli is killed or becomes a refugee in Argentina and Europe. There is no political solution. There is only a demographic war.
