Former teacher Jamie Varley has been found guilty of the murder, sexual assault, infliction of grievous bodily harm, and four counts of child cruelty relating to 13-month-old Preston Davey. His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, was also found guilty of allowing the death of a child, child cruelty, and sexual assault. The couple were in the process of adopting Preston. Just four months after being placed with them, Preston was taken to hospital unconscious and in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to save him, he died. They will be sentenced on Thursday, 18th of June at Preston Crown Court.

I don’t think that if someone wanted to grift, they would leave it open for 10 hours, nor would they have someone else open the GoFundMe for them (which was me). If I had woken up earlier, I would have closed it earlier. We never expected the goal to be reached within such a small time frame. So it wasn’t even in Libyano’s control to end the GoFundMe. This is what happens when people assume the worst. Details like this get omitted or aren’t cared for, and then people build the narrative they want. I won’t be speaking further on this, but just assume the best of your brother and suspend judgement more, in sha Allah. Have people grifted before? Yes. Asking for 100k USD while being in debt, and then spending on extortionate things that aren’t a necessity, could be considered a grift. But putting that in the same bracket as this is absurd. The people who chose to donate more within the small time frame it was open did so out of generosity. This isn’t the same as Libyano asking for that amount for a specific reason and then pocketing it. For example asking for $10,000 when in reality he needs $5,000. He would have spent what he asked for on what he needed, which he has receipts for. Whatever extra was donated was never specifically asked for by him, so it would be treated like anything extra that someone gives you. If I ask you for $100 for medical bills, and you say, “Listen Deen, I love your dawah. I want people like you not to worry about these sorts of things, so here’s $1000,” then I would spend the $100 on medical bills, and the extra $900 is no one’s business except me and you. And if you don’t expect me to document what I spend the extra $900 on, then it is no one else’s business to ask what I spent it on. Bro Hajji has also been insulting libyano without speaking to him.
