Incredible leadership from @reformparty_uk, who are now funding personal security for me. Throughout my nine years as a Tory MP, even facing severe threats against my young son and eight death threats, I was left with zero support. Reform stands by its people and takes the safety of its public figures seriously. The media and other political parties must stop the sniping and adding venom to an already hostile situation for those in the public eye.

The job of the police after an horrific crime is to apprehend the perpetrator and secure their conviction. Anything that detracts from that crucial aim, such as needless speculation, should be avoided. The police have an important job to do; please let them do it.

Police must pursue their inquiries, but it is at the very least premature to say “there is nothing to suggest” Ann’s murder was “politically motivated”. The public cannot be expected to believe anyone would drive from Yorkshire to Devon, randomly pick a remote bungalow, bludgeon the elderly occupant to death before taking £50, two bottles of whisky and then driving back to Yorkshire. This doesn’t look much like a burglary gone wrong. The daytime break-in, leaving a car prominently parked in the drive, the lack of valuables stolen, the use of extreme violence. Why? Several questions need to be answered urgently: * Have police thoroughly checked the arrested man’s emails, social media and phone messages? * Was the guy known to police? If so, for what? * Are there any of Ann’s views the suspect was offended by or was involved in activism against? * Is he a Devon man and was he known to Ann? * Why was a counter-terror unit used in the raid on the house where they found the suspect? In the case of the tragic murder of MP Jo Cox, the police quickly revealed her killer was a white, far right extremist. The appalling murder of Ann Widdecombe deserves exactly the same transparency. Victims of different political beliefs must not receive two-tier treatment. This is a heinous crime that has shocked millions of us. Ann was a beloved National Treasure. We need a full picture of what happened to her, and why, not bland or evasive police assurances.

With Reform looking inevitable, the establishment is panicking, pulling out every bit of European-style lawfare and harassment to stop them. The latest is an investigation into £5 million received from a Bitcoin billionaire. I'd like to see the Labour politician who can turn down five million quid. In fact I don't remember Labour agonising over the ethical implications of receiving £11 million from unions, the conflict of interest in receiving £6 million from energy tycoon Dale Vince, or the dodginess of receiving £4 million from a Cayman Islands-based hedge fund. They've ramped up the harassment as well, with journalists staking out Farage's daughter's home. No wonder nobody wants to run against the establishment. Farage called a by-election to draw a line under these matters and the establishment parties - the Tories, Labour, Lib Dems, Greens - are all boycotting the vote, creating an inverted cordon sanitaire. Would be nice if they could do that at the general election too.

@MarkVipond When the cops call for people not to speculate, it usually means they don't want to be criticised for pathetic police wokery preventing a proper investigation.

Many need to stop constantly politicising the team. Not everything all the time has to always be about politics. We’re in the World Cup semi-final. Maybe we could just enjoy it without being at each other’s throats for a change.

Yesterday, I went to the gym as usual. It is the only time of day when I can listen to music and try to shut off from politics and the endless peril our country is currently in. My earphones were broken. That was fine. I just pushed through my workout as ever, and what I heard was not a single person speaking English - everyone was foreign. Once I had finished my weights, I went into the changing room to shower before my swim. Again, not one person was speaking English in the changing room. I then went for my swim, utterly exhausted by the process and feeling like an alien in my own country. After my swim, I finished with a sauna. Two foreign men then entered the sauna. They spoke a foreign language while staring through the sauna room glass, making what I can only assume were comments about the young women walking past. Zero decorum, zero respect, and complete entitlement. I cannot describe how angry the whole experience made me. I am so sick of it. When I got home, I found the same situation. I live in a converted house, with Indian neighbours downstairs. Because of the heat, I had to keep all the windows open. All I could hear was them shouting in their language. Not a word of English. I hate it. I am sick of it. If you took someone from the 1920s, blindfolded them, and dropped them in London in 2026, they would not believe they were in England. When I visit other countries, even as a tourist, I feel guilty if I do not speak their native tongue. That is basic respect. If people come to our country and refuse to speak English, they should be deported immediately. Every day, English men and women feel like imposters on their own soil. This has to end. This has to stop. I live in London because it is the heart of our politics. The more English people who leave, the faster we will become a minority in our own capital city - so I stay. I hate multiculturalism. I hate constantly hearing other languages around me. I do not want these cultures here, and I do not want these people here. I long for the day when millions leave.
