@Arsnl_Exclusive Yep, we have definitely not had any central midfielders making headlines for the wrong reasons in recent years.

Fair point tbh; one thing about Arsenal FC is that the club has largely stayed clear of those kinds of scandals over the years. While others have had issues like Adrian Mutu, Mark Bosnich, Daniel Sturridge or Luis Suárez making headlines for the wrong reasons, Arsenal’s reputation has mostly been about football first. Not perfect, but definitely one of the cleaner records at the top level.

Since I have been following football I've never heard an Arsenal player involved in any scandal like doping, betting and racism like others We have had- Chelsea :Bosnich, Mudryk, Mutu and Terry Manchester United :Ferdinand and Cantona Liverpool : Sturridge and Suarez

2 BBC articles about 2 VAR incidents: The pen not given to Havertz, & the red card not given to Gabriel. In both cases, the KMI panel ruled that the ref’s decision was wrong, but that VAR was right not to intervene. Yet both headlines only highlight the anti-Arsenal ruling.

There’s no doubt that the Premier League is enormously competitive, and that takes a toll, but the counterpoint to that is that English clubs can bully all but a handful of continental clubs in the transfer market.

I’m really not buying this “boo hoo, the Premier League is so hard” narrative. The top PL teams have enormous resources, and there’s no excuse to not be able to rotate their squads. PSG played every game there was to play last season, and then went to the final of the CWC.

@chrisw333 @SwedishRumble @FPLfrasier The point is net spend is too much of a simplified analysis, ignoring key factors such as wages & agents fees which can be quite considerable in determining (a) where a player goes & (b) player retention. It also targets specific transfer windows ignoring historical context.

@SwedishRumble @FPLfrasier So in your eyes if Villa sell Rogers for £100m this summer and spend £60m on his replacement the only relevant metric is the £60m spend? Meanwhile our rivals keep their £100m player and spend another £60m on a prospect. Your analysis is that this business is identical? Righto

I don’t get why people use “net spend”. It’s not net spend, it’s only transfer fees. The below transfer window led to PSG making a world record loss of 386m in 21/22 — still they only “spent” 80m? To be brutally honest, people who think ”net spend” means what they think it means, must think a little harder. 😅 People like Dougie Critchley fall for Pep’s nonsense about net spend. The City Football Group has spent billions on creating a global academy that funnel sellable talent to Man City. Last summer Man City sold Bobb, McAtee, Couto and Perrone for 90 million. This reduces City’s “Net Spend” with 90m. So what does that tell us? Arsenal have invested more in their squad that City. Okiii….

Highest net spend on transfers last 5 years (21/22-25/26) in Europe's Top 5 Leagues: 1) Man United: -€780m 2) Arsenal: -€769m 3) Chelsea: -€738m 4) Tottenham: -€670m 5) PSG: -€567m 6) Newcastle: -€492m 7) Liverpool: -€486m 8) Man City: -€459m 9) Nottingham Forest: -€379m 10) West Ham: -€368m Absolutely crazy to think that 3 of these teams are currently 16th, 17th and 18th in the Premier League. They can complain about injuries and poor managerial appointments, but they've also made some terrible transfer decisions. (All figures @Transfermarkt)

@HarrySymeou Lets be real, Norgaard is not at the same level as the other players. He hasnt shown that he is, which is why he isnt trusted to play much. You can bleat all day about why he was brought in, but with PSR he was all that could be afforded. Merino, however, is the big miss.

I think there’s a few reasons for the decline in our performances lately. Fatigue is definitely one of them. It’s clear looking at the midfield pair in particular. I struggle to feel sympathetic towards that issue though when you’ve signed Norgaard in the summer & he’s missing out on squads altogether having played less than 60 PL mins all season. x.com/SkySportsPL/st…

Osimhen is the closest thing to a fusion of Gyökeres and Havertz His finishing isn't elite, but it's better than Havertz. He's also aerially on par with Havertz (Havertz slightly better at headers from goal kicks. Osimhen better at headers in the box to score) And even though his finishing is worse than Gyökeres, he is as fast as Gyökeres (you could argue faster) while being stronger and more technically sound. The glaring concern is obviously his personality and wages, but if those two issues can be sorted, he's the best of both worlds.

Hate the way football is going. - Every game with like 6+ mins added time. - Super high intensity - Euro WC AFCON and Copa America years with 70-80+ games - lack of protection for players because the higher ups block their ears with money - increase in ACLs, serious hamstring injuries, achillies and other serious injuries The whole domino effect since they brought in the nations league alongside the increased European games is nuts honestly

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on the decision not to give Nick Pope a red card after the foul on Viktor Gyökeres: "In my opinion, it’s a clear red card. I’ve watched it many times. If you’ve played football, you know it’s a red card. "It’s the second time in two games, including the situation against Manchester City with Kai Havertz. These are the margins. In crucial moments, when everything is at stake, you need decisions to go your way, and they haven’t." 🎙️ Reporter: "Are you frustrated with those decisions?" 🗣️ Mikel Arteta: "I’m not making excuses. I didn’t talk about it when we lost. But today, even in a win, I still believe it’s a red card. If it happens the other way around, it’s given."

Iran’s soccer team will be welcome at this summer’s men’s World Cup but anyone deemed to have links to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will be denied entry to the U.S., Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned. President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House his administration “would not want to affect the athletes” of Iran but Rubio said anyone deemed to be “terrorists” who “pretend they are journalists or athletic trainers” would not be allowed into the country. Iran’s participation at the World Cup has been in doubt since the American-Israeli strikes on February 28 triggered the ongoing war in the Middle Eastern country. 7 years ago today, Unai Emery controversially started Carl Jenkinson & Dinos Mavropanos as Arsenal lost 3-2 at home in a crucial game against Crystal Palace in the Top 4 run in. Before this game, Mavropanos had 1 Premier League start that entire season, while Jenkinson had only started 1 Premier League game in the last 2.5 years. Many journalists have said they thought they were being pranked when they were shown the line up. This was part of a run where Arsenal were 3rd but only picked up 4 points out of a possible 18 from 6 games, which meant they would finish 5th.

In general I think we whine too much about every little call when we lose. And it was a well reffed game imo. But this angle shows that without a big pull of the shirt, Haaland can’t get to this ball. I think if a ref looks at that again there’s no way the goal is allowed.
