They killed over 200,000 clergy and over 10M Christians. It’s the genocide no one wants to talk about.

Why don’t schools teach children about the Bolsheviks who killed millions of Orthodox Christians?

@IamJonte_ Prayer: a solemn request for help. It is a word with a definition. Even if you say, "Help me find a solution to my problem." There is an implication that someone/thing out there is going to help you.
English

This is a false dichotomy. The believer can both pray and act.

Who is wrong here?
English

@IamJonte_ @2laluna @trevorkylesmith Well, most people will quote you Isaiah 45:7 where God said he actually created Evil
English

@cosmicsayshi @2laluna @trevorkylesmith That assumes that evil is a “thing” that was created, which many Christians reject.
English

@IamJonte_ @2laluna @trevorkylesmith Interesting perspective. If God is whatever there is including evil and goodness and suffering and kindness etc. It kinda corresponds with the nature of life. Cruel but sustaining, nothing personal just "something" running it's cause.
English

It is my best rations that God is panentheistic. He transcends creation but He is also in it because He actively sustains creation and creation cannot exist without Him. I think if you understand God this way it starts to challenge the classical theistic (It’s God and creation) notion at least on base level and sets a different tone on how one approaches the word Miracle or supernatural.
σημεῖον (Miracle in Koine, New Testament Greek) means “sign” or “wonder”. There is nothing here that really implies supernatural. God being a mystery (which I think He is) doesn’t automatically classify Him as “supernatural,” whatever that may mean.
I say this to say, terms like “supernatural” can get extremely complex and vague which is why some Christians abandon the term.
English

@IamJonte_ @2laluna @trevorkylesmith Really? It would be a first for me to find a Christian who doesn't subscribe to the supernatural world view of miracles. That seems to be the whole idea of what miracles mean to them. At least they give credit to a supernatural being when they experience such things
English

So whats the point of praying😮💨 looking at this image, if the believer were to work wouldnt the accomplishment of the act be done by his hands hard work not god.

English

@IamJonte_ @2laluna @trevorkylesmith when it comes to prayer and experiences, for one to assume the laws of nature has been suspended in their favor for them to have an experience that solidifies their faith when i know kids who get raped and killed also pray to be saved just makes prayer redundant and petty.
English

@cosmicsayshi @2laluna @trevorkylesmith In which one could add that religious experience per se (in itself) doesn’t mean that x religion is true, but to argue from a more cumulative or use abductive reasoning, which is inclusive of religious experience. What do you think?
English

@2laluna @trevorkylesmith @IamJonte_ I understand. But all I'm saying is... Other people from various religious backgrounds also have experiences but that doesn't mean it's true. But I understand you
English

@ShazamMess @Itchyvon1 @realUGAHater @Xarchist But again, you’re presupposing what prayer *is*. The dilemma is on shaky foundation until you give an argument for why you’ve come to that conclusion.
English

@IamJonte_ @Itchyvon1 @realUGAHater @Xarchist If God has a plan as most Christians believe He does then either
A Your prayer changes His plan which means His plan wasn’t really a plan
OR
B Your prayer doesn’t change His plan which means prayer doesn’t actually do anything
“You can pray for straight or knowledge” no u can’t
English

@icarus_mas This is begging the question.
“Prayer doesn’t work because it is wishful thinking” is presupposing the conclusion in the premise.
English

Not if the believer is from Nigeria
