We've added a lot more examples of completed NIHR INCLUDE Ethnicity Frameworks to the website, courtesy of the CSO-funded STRIDE project. Hopefully these will help trialists to complete Frameworks for they own trials: trialforge.org/trial-forge-ce…

Sheffield Uni engaged me and others in the most thoughtful way, which allowed us the time space & safety for thoughtful conversations. I didnt lead the work, but it's a good example of co-creation with marginalised academics. A rare & enjoyable experience, come find out more

Great piece from @wellcometrust on the problem with ethnicity categories in UK health data - "Ethnicity categories in UK healthcare are inconsistent and not always accurate. This has real-world consequences." Read or listen to the full piece here ⬇️ wellcome.org/news/ethnicity…

Ethnic inequalities in health and care show diversity in need and disadvantage Ethnic inequalities in healthcare and outcomes occur across the entire life course. Analysis by broad ethnic groups can mask substantial variation within them 👇🏽 bmj.com/content/381/bm…

Which ethnic groups need to be represented in your trial? Recommendation to support discussion on this coming from the @Trial_Forge STRIDE project ⬇️ #InclusiveTrials #InclusiveResearch
Trial Forge@Trial_Forge

Our STRIDE project has produced some new recommendations on how to decide which ethnic groups your trial needs: trialforge.org/trial-forge-ce… These are version 1– comments on these recommendations are most welcome (see link for details)

@InclusiveTrials Yes and the kicker was the illness in question affects mostly women, which just makes their research not relevant information for the people that would benefit from treatment. The irony...

Not collecting data of all genders is happening across different medical research fields. When I pointed an imbalance out in a colleague's work they told me it's too difficult to collect female data. This kind of thinking can and is already harming women's lifes and needs to stop
Inclusive Trials@InclusiveTrials

Important work from @StanfordDeptMed's Celina Yong. Trials with female PIs are associated with greater recruitment of female patients, but the proportion of cardiovascular trials led by women has not increased over the past decade. #InclusiveTrials sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

This highlights an important point that is often overlooked; when we talk about inclusive trials participants are not our only focus. To be truly inclusive, we need the people leading trials and providing expertise to build high quality trials to be inclusive too.
