On this day (11.04) in 2009, 300 shells were fired by Sri Lanka within 45 minutes into the densely populated No Fire Zone, where hundreds of thousands of Tamils were trapped, causing mass death. Due to the rains, people were even unable to hide in the bunkers as they were flooded

'நீளிரா' படத்தினை இன்றுதான் பார்த்தேன். அம்மா முதலாக அப்போது வாழ்ந்தவர்கள் எல்லோரும் சொல்லக் கேட்ட கதை. அமைதி காக்கும் படை என்கிற பெயரில் வந்த இந்திய இராணுவத்தின் வருகை வடக்கில் வாழ்ந்த தமிழர்களின் வாழ்வியலில், இருப்பில், சுதந்திரத்தில் எத்தகைய தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது என்று பேசும் கதை. 1988 இல் இலங்கையின் வடபகுதியில் வாழும் ஒரு குடும்பம் அடுத்தநாள் வீட்டில் நடக்கவிருக்கும் திருமண நிகழ்விற்குத் தயாராகிறது. அப்படி அவர்கள் தயாராகிற போது, அந்த இரவில் அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வருகிற இந்திய இராணுவத்துக்கும் தமிழ் இயக்கத்துக்கும் இடையில் போர் ஆரம்பிக்கிறது. இந்தப் போரில் அந்தக் குடும்பம் எப்படி சிக்கிக்கொண்டு வெளியே வருகிறது என்பதுதான் கதை. இந்தப் படத்தை உன்னிப்பாகக் கவனிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நிறைய விஷயங்கள் தெரியவரும். உதாரணமாக, இந்தப் போரில் தமிழர்களின், தமிழ்க் குடும்பங்களின் பங்கு எத்தகையது என்பதை இந்தப் படம் நெடுக அவதானிக்கலாம். இந்தக் கதையில் வருகிற குடும்பம் தமிழ்ப் பற்று உள்ள குடும்பம். தமிழர்களின் சுதந்திரத்திற்காக தங்களை அர்ப்பணிக்கவும் தயாராக இருக்கிற குடும்பம். வீட்டில் இளையவர்கள் இருந்தால் இயக்கத்துக்கு போறேன் என்று சொல்பவர்களும் கட்டாயம் இருப்பார்கள். இயக்கப் பெடியள் வழமையாக தமிழர்களின் வீட்டில்தான் வாங்கிச் சாப்பிடுவார்கள். தேநீர் அருந்துவார்கள். வந்தால் பெடியளுக்கு உபசாரம் செய்யாமல் சாப்பாடு தராமல் இருக்கமாட்டார்கள். அது பயத்தினால் வந்தது அல்ல. நமக்கும் அவர்கள் காவலர்கள் என்கிற பயபக்தியினால் வந்த அன்பு அது. அவர்களும் நமது பிள்ளையள் என்பதால் வந்த உணர்வு அது. "கல்யாண வீட்டில அசைவம் வைக்கிறதில்லை. உங்களுக்காகத்தான் புட்டும் முட்டைப் பொரியலும் வைச்சம்" என்று சொல்கிற ஒரு வசனமே சொல்லிவிடும். கவனமா போங்கோ என்று அன்பாக உணவு கொடுத்து அனுப்பும் காட்சியே அந்தப் பிணைப்பைச் சொல்லிவிடும். இந்தப் படத்தில் வருகிற காட்சிகளை வைத்தே நிறையக் கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டு நீங்கள் ஆராயலாம். அந்தப் படத்தில், விஜயகாந்த் படத்தின் காஸட்டை பார்த்துவிட்டு, மதராஸி! தமிழ் இயக்க ஆதரவாளரா? என்று ஏன் அந்த இந்திய இராணுவ அதிகாரி கேட்டார். ஏன் தமிழக மக்களின் ஆதரவு அவர்களுக்கு அவ்வளவு எரிச்சல் ஊட்டுகிறது? என்று தேடிப் பாருங்கள். ஏன் இலங்கையில் தமிழர் பூமியில் இருக்கும் எல்லோரும் தமிழ் அல்லாத இன்னோர் ஆக்கிரமிப்பை எதிர்த்தார்கள்? ஏன் படித்தவர்கள், மருத்துவர்கள் எல்லோரும் படிப்பை விட்டு ஆயுதம் ஏந்தினார்கள்? அதென்ன ஹாஸ்பிடல் படுகொலை? அவளுடைய traumaவின் பின்னால் இருக்கும் நிகழ்வு என்ன? அதென்ன யாழ்ப்பாண மருத்துவமனைப் படுகொலை. அதற்கும் இந்திய அமைதிப் படைக்கும் என்ன தொடர்பு? இயக்கப் பெடியளிடம் தயங்காமல் பேசும் பெண்கள், ஏன் இந்திய இராணுவம் வந்து இரவில் கதவைத் தட்டினால் பெண்கள் போகாமல் முதியவர்களை அனுப்புகிறார்கள்? ஏன் பெண்கள் ஷேர்ட் போடுகிறார்கள்? ஏன் கூனி நிற்கிறார்கள்? இதுபோல நிறையக் கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டால் எல்லாவற்றும் பதில் கிடைக்கலாம். அதேநேரம் எல்லோரும் கெட்டவர்கள் கிடையாது. இந்திய இராணுவத்தின் காப்டனை நிதானமானவராக தீங்கு விளைவிக்காதவராக காட்டியிருப்பார்கள். நீங்க சமாதானம் என்று வந்து, யாரிடமிருந்து(இலங்கை இராணுவத்திடமிருந்து) எங்களைப் பாதுகாக்க வந்தீர்களோ இப்போது அவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து எங்களை(தமிழர்களை) அடக்குகிறீர்கள் என்று மக்கள் கேள்வி கேட்பதுபோல காட்சி அமைத்திருப்பதெல்லாம் நன்று. இன்னொரு பக்கம் இயக்கத்தின் கெரில்லா போர் உத்தி. சிறு குழுக்கள் எப்படி இயங்குவார்கள், அவர்கள் எப்படி யாழ்ப்பாணத் தமிழில் பேசிக்கொள்வார்கள், யாழ்ப்பாணத் தமிழில் பேசி எப்படி சண்டை போடுவார்கள் என்பதையெல்லாம் அழகாக எடுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். சண்டையை விளையாடுவோம் வா என்று ஆரம்பிப்பதெல்லாம் சரியாக இருந்தது. ஒருபக்கம் வலி நிறைந்த வாழ்க்கை. இன்னொரு பக்கம் இந்த நூற்றாண்டிலேயே தமிழர்களின் புறநானூற்று வாழ்க்கையைப் பதிவு செய்கிறார்கள். ஆவணப்படுத்துகிறார்கள். ஈழப் பிரச்சனையைப் பேச ஆயிரம் ஆயிரம் கதைகள் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் அதைச் சரியாகவும் சுவாரசியமாகவும் சொல்ல ஆளில்லை என்கிற குறையை இந்த நீளிரா படம் குறைத்திருக்கிறது. இந்தப் படம் வெற்றிபெற வேண்டும். பலரையும் சென்றடைய வேண்டும். இடையிடையே அழகான தமிழ் வார்த்தைப் பிரயோகங்கள். அழகான நல்ல பொருள் என்றால் மணியா இருக்கு என்பார்கள். நாம் இப்போது சூப்பர் என்று சொல்வதுபோல! இந்த மாதிரி வலிக்குள்ளும் அழகான தமிழ் உரையாடலை காது குளிரக் கேட்கலாம். தமிழகம் முதலாக இலங்கை உட்பட எல்லா திரையரங்குகளிலும் இந்தப் படம் போகிறது. சென்று பாருங்கள். #Neelira @karthiksubbaraj

All killings and attacks on Tamil civilians by the Sri Lankan state must cease immediately.  2. Unimpeded humanitarian assistance to those in need in the Vanni must be allowed.  3. The United Nations, NGOs, and the ICRC must have unfettered humanitarian access to the Tamil population.  4. There must be an immediate ceasefire.  5. Negotiations for a political solution must begin immediately after the ceasefire, based on Tamil self-determination.
