read this and try not to panic: ages 17–25 now have the LOWEST critical thinking scores ever recorded. MIT calls it “cognitive atrophy.” Harvard found that AI users scored lowest in creativity. 67% of students say AI is hurting their ability to think. Many admit they know it’s happening, but they can’t stop. a student said it on NPR: "you don't need to use your brain." GPS shrank the brain region for navigation. AI is shrinking the one for reasoning. adults lose skills to AI. children never build them at all. we are the last generation that was forced to think without AI. this article will disturb you. read it anyway.

This was 44 years ago and the only tech for the singer was a microphone and a human voice… It was another time and it was another place.

Global Teacher Shortage Alert: The United Nations says the world will need 44 million more primary and secondary teachers by 2030. Fewer people are entering the profession. More are leaving. Is raising salaries alone enough to fix this…or is the problem deeper?

The best companies I've worked for have held to the Danny Meyers philosophy that leadership should take care of its employees as a first priority--even over customers. If you take care of your staff, they will take care of the product and the customers. Unfortunately, there isn't a school I've worked for that does anything remotely like this. Instead, the parents and students are put first and the staff just has to deal with it. It's what makes so many schools so toxic.

This is a great article about how our students have no math skills yet get a diploma. Most students take (and fail) and Algebra 1 EOC in 9th grade. The teacher pads the grade so the child passes the class anyway. Many student never gave up take another Math EOC so they pass every math class in high school but know absolutely nothing.
Joanne Jacobs@JoanneLeeJacobs

More students are graduating. Fewer are proficient in math. The gap is huge. @ChadAldeman tinyurl.com/4mz754v2 @VodkaPundit @MichaelPetrilli @garrytan @FightFuzzyMath @rickhess99 @rpondiscio @RbnLake @esanzi @0Beanie05923291 @educator4ever36 @HKorbey

@Jordan_C_Adams except the people who are in charge of deciding what is "good teaching" are warped in the head. they think discovery learning, group testing, SEL, etc.... are the way to go....

How many teachers have students currently failing that you know will be passing your class anyway?

My old school is assigning teachers a list of students in danger of failing. The teacher is then required to touch base with the parents and all of the teachers that student is failing for to try and correct the problem.

I find it mind boggling how we generally expect students to grow one grade level per year, yet we put students who are 3-4 (and even more) grade levels behind and expect them to master grade level standards. We are asking of them more growth than we would a gifted student. This madness has to end.

A 20-something kid with a cell phone camera just cut the national budget deficit by exposing hundreds of billions in fraud. Turns out we didn’t need more taxation. Only enforcement of our laws.
Nick shirley@nickshirleyy

🚨 Fraudsters literally looted $250-500 BILLION a year from taxpayers for years, now changes are being made to prevent this fraud: - Treasury is now going after the banks - Whistleblowers can make 30% for exposing fraud - Auto dealers will be tracked down END ALL THE FRAUD.

Most people don't hate math. They hate what math feels like when their foundation is full of holes.

Yesterday, after school, my DI called me into her office. For context, the director of instruction is over staff and academics. She reports directly to the principal. DI: Is this you? (holding up her phone with my X account on the screen) Me: Yes DI: Do you hate your job? Me: I hate the system we call education. DI: Me too. Don't take the coordinator position. It would be like staying on the Titanic while it's sinking. (I was offered the district behavior coordinator position.) Me: I'm going to put this on X. DI: Tell them I said admin knows the ship is sinking. We can't stop it either.

My district requires a gradebook update once a week. But that does not happen with lots of teachers. My son often does not have any grades at all in a class for weeks. And some test results take weeks to post and we do not know until late in the cycle that he did not do well on something.

If you just now discovered your child is failing at the end of the quarter or semester, it is likely not the teacher's failure…it is a failure on your part as a parent.

It is actually pretty surreal how the most consequential US response to Islamism after 9/11 was to facilitate an explosion in Muslim immigration to this country and then to create a term ("Islamophobia") that made it socially unacceptable to criticize it.
