@BurnishedRows Watching this guy utter Christ’s name is almost surreal. “will you also be his disciple?”

“Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. Because if you are strong enough, ruthless enough, powerful enough, evil will overcome good.” The mistake conservative realists like Netanyahu and many of us make is that Christianity in fact has a greater will to power than the most pagan warlord barbarism. And liberal internationalism has a greater will to imperial power than conservative nationalism.

@hneros13818 @LukasNectarios That may well be the definition of an Orthodox (note the capital “O”) person, but Orthodoxy without orthodoxy (the gospel, Christ Crucified) is a ridiculous endeavor. No point in works without faith. No point in faith without truth.

@LukasNectarios "You need to believe in the gospel!" You people sound like protestants. The definition of an orthodox person is one who participate in the life of the Church through the holy sacraments, not the one who has the true gnosis of some imagined online version of "the gospel"

@latiniser @OrthoAugustine In fairness, Vladimir Moss has been a staunch and prolific opponent of Romanides at a time when canonical jurisdictions have been dragging their feet. Not defending schism in the least, but we should give credit where it’s due.

If you're confessing the faith as the most blessed St. Augustine did, and you're Orthodox, sorry to tell you but going "Genuine Orthodox" will not work for you. They do not care about St. Augustine, their father is Romanides.

@jew_jacob2005 @TheOrthoEnsign I’ve never seen him slander anyone, but I’m still not seeing how that has to do with you blatantly denying scripture and accusing saints of heresy.

@jew_jacob2005 @TheOrthoEnsign “Why should I care about the Holy Spirit and three other saints when I have my own opinion and can just accuse them of heresy?” Not sure what “when you all dont even care” means. We all care very much about the saints and Holy Scripture. Your opinion is worthless.

@FrLillie And the Bible has been a foundational source of catholic truth on which the Church and the saints have grounded the Christian faith. We would not have the Church as it is today without the Scriptures which are the word of God. “I confess that Christ is written” -St Gregory Naz.

@ZacharyOfUlster You have a habit of taking random priests’ word against those of bishops. Also, “terrible abbot” is blatant calumny.

They are a group that has experienced lots of pain, they were persecuted by the Greek Church and even recently they suffer from people making false promises. One priest recounted how the current Abbot of HTM in Jordanville NY Luke Murianka, had once told some Old Calendarists that he would never unite with the MP and that he would hold the line and that if ROCOR ever did reunite with the MP, he would be their leader and defend them in fighting against a false reunion with the MP. But then it occurred, he joined with the MP and betrayed those whom he told he would never leave, there was an Old Calendarist nun who upon hearing about his betrayal of them erupted into tears. Now I obviously think being in communion with the MP is good, but from this story (as well as other stories I hear about Abbot Luke), Luke is spineless and a fraud for going back on his word. He's also a terrible abbot btw.
Nicholas Reynolds@anicholasr

Give an Old Calendarist one compliment today. It doesn’t have to be related to Orthodoxy at all. Just one nice thing.

@redeemed_zoomer I love the people in the comments who clearly only read your “problem” with their faith and took to the comments without reading any of the others.

My biggest problem with each denomination: Presbyterian: worship is too wild and crazy Catholic: nobody knows they exist Orthodox: style too modern Lutheran: no focus on the sacraments Baptist: too liberal Methodist: argue theology nonstop Nondenominational: too formal

@AnaniasFather St. Gennadius basically said the same thing. Ethan posts coal all the time, but being Orthodox doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to admire the non-Orthodox.

@BioticCommando2 @LatinAcolyte You have no idea what you're talking about. The Fathers clearly used ιλαστηριον as "propitiation", as can be clearly seen from the way they use it in connection to speaking of God's anger. See St. Basil, Homily XX:

@theFathersOrtho Do you have any knowledge of whether this was in the original? I’ve heard (Florovsky) claim that he initially supported purgatory, and only in a later revision did other Orthodox bishops “fix” the Catechism and sign off on it.
