Seeing so many hate comments on UEFN from people that don't know sh*t uefn is bringing in 40-50% of the playerbase (sometimes even more on map events) im also seeing to many people saying we getting paid 40% but in reality its 16% there are many people that log in just to play UEFN maps and people don't even realize that. lowering the payout by a lot would just hurt them even more. less maps->less players/returning players->lower player spendings->lower LTV->lower revenue do the math.

@duos_with_dad @FNCreate I think the best topic to push this year would be we having acess to edit the current Fortnite props, walls decorations, prefabs etc, so we could turn into meshes/scenegraph prefabs etc and then optimize, i would love to make bigger maps without a ton of actors lagging the game

Absolutely amazing to see this much interest in ISMs! I can’t believe this post already has 120 bookmarks. That many developers saving it tells me there’s a real appetite for learning more about optimization techniques like this. Maybe @FNCreate should take another look at the Unreal Fest ISM talks that @GameDevMicah and I submitted. I’d be genuinely honored to present alongside Micah and share his deep knowledge of ISMs in Unreal Engine, along with what we’ve learned applying them effectively in UEFN. Judging by the response so far, it seems like a lot of fellow developers are looking for deeper guidance on ISMs and performance optimization. If there’s interest, I’d love the opportunity to help break it down for the community. @TimSweeney conversations around optimization like this are clearly something many UEFN creators are hungry for.

Here’s a quick clip showing how to convert identical meshes into an Instanced Static Mesh (ISM). 1️⃣ Select all identical meshes (same mesh + material) 2️⃣ Open Modeling Tools → XForm 3️⃣ Click Harvest Instances 4️⃣ Set Component Type to Non-Hierarchical (ISM) 5️⃣ Name the actor and Accept You’ve now converted all those meshes into a single actor. If the material looks broken, open the material and enable “Used with Instanced Static Meshes” in the usage flags. This is just the beginning of the ISM optimization rabbit hole, have fun! @FNCreate

📌Here is a technical breakdown behind the scenes of my most complex material system ever: 🔢Dynamic Number System Material Graph: ~900+ Nodes of logic - Displays as sprite or 2d sign - Capable of displaying any value from 0 to 999,999,999.999 - Intelligent automatic formatting - Single input parameter drives entire system - Any symbol ($ % # @ /) 🧠Technical Challenges: - Converting flipbook textures dynamically into compatible values from single input parameter - Pushed float32 to its limits, discovered IEEE 754 precision boundaries at scale (can't represent all 12 significant issues accurately) - Resolved floating point drift with infinitesimal offsets (+0.001)

@FNCVessel Ssd nvme 2.0? You need to fast read and write drive. Unreal opens a lot of things when it launches. My specs isn't low-mid tier but it only takes about 15-30 seconds to start unreal. I have had sudden crashes but I don't recall freezing

discovery is not random. it’s reactive. epic doesn’t decide if your map wins. players do. discover watches: - do they click - do they stay - do they come back and then it adjusts. that’s it. once you stop blaming the algorithm and start aligning with player behavior, discover becomes predictable.
