On the flip side, Will Stein may flop as a head coach. I doubt it, but maybe the in-game decision-making, the pressure of managing an entire team, and everything that comes with the job ends up being too much. We won’t know until we know, and truthfully, it may take 2–3 seasons to find out if he really has the chops to be a head coach in the SEC. But for right now he’s controlling what he can control. Donors, recruits, transfers, coaches, and families believe in his plan and his vision. Kentucky football was staring at a 2-10 season, maybe worse. Now he has national media talking about his turnaround and a top-10 recruiting class. And he’s doing this because he can do this. People are buying into his message. The same cannot be said about Kentucky basketball right now. Leadership is getting people to believe before they have proof. Right now, Will Stein is doing that. Kentucky basketball is not.

This keeps happening for 2 reasons. 1.) Pope has no closing ability. He doesn't put players/agents feet to the fire and this makes agents comfortable shopping. 2.) Coaches know they have an above average shot of stealing a Pope recruit. They are targeting him and his recruits at this point.

You’ve been tampering with Freeman since before he entered the portal. You got him on campus before UConn and Alabama, both schools who recently have had more success than Kentucky. You get Freeman to cancel his visit to both schools. You then get another PF on campus that is inarguably a better fit in your system, had Rancik ready to commit essentially right away, and you let him walk without a 100% clear answer on Freeman. Even if Freeman does commit to Kentucky, how is this sustainable for the program and defendable by fans. It’s sickening. #BBN #Doublewiff
