it is not just that.. Muslim elites obviously do not identify with this story, but neither do modern Leli Indians and that is the unique part.. It will evolve into something workable though bcz no middle income country will be without nationalist stories, it is part of the package.. It is just a bit sad that capable (as in relatively intelligent) people are already committed to streams that will dry up as India develops more and western hegemony declines.. it is a sad waste of talent..

Pakistan calls Afghan celebrities Afghan, Indian actors Indians but when it comes to Pakistan they suddenly become "South Asian ".
