Asking my prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre about why Norway refers to India as a democracy when the Indian PM has not had a press conference in 12 years at home. Is not a free press important to democracy anymore? Støre points to India holding elections. He does acknowledge differences in press culture, but also points to Indias large population.

The Norwegian Prime Minister also didn’t take any questions at the joint press briefing of the two leaders. But the lunatic Congress ecosystem led by Rahul Gandhi is crowing over a delinquent journalist’s incoherent rant. One wonders if, like the journalist in question, the Congress leadership is also on the take of those who do not want to see a strong and powerful India.

@HelleLyngSvends @bainjal 😅The Norwegian press ask questions and then walkout to the cafe or loo, without caring to listen to the response. With such toxic sense of entitlement, no wonder theirs is the supposedly number one spot on the World Press Freedom Index.

As a journalist you have every right to ask sharp & critical questions however, the you have no right to dictate how you are replied to. Walking out is not journalism but shows an angry activism. The MeA won this round

Journalism is sometimes confrontational. We seek answers. If any interview subject, especially with power, do not answer what I asked, I will try to interrupt and get a more focused response. That is my job & duty. I want answers and not just talking points.

@naveensharma250 X is not that popular for journalists anymore in Norway. I post on TikTok and Facebook and Instagram, and will probably return to those platforms when I go back to writing about Norwegian politics tomorrow. We will see.

@HelleLyngSvends If u think u r free and independent journalist, pls answer what kind of journalistic things did u do from 2022 to until now... Why do u not have any posts on ur X account after 2022 until now barring one random post in between?... What were u doing for all these years?

I turned off comments on the video of my primeminister because he did end up taking questions later yesterday from Indian reporters. I still think he should have taken questions at the first press meeting from the Indian press. Feel free to discuss on this thread instead.
