Yesterday, I watched Sundowns in the CAF Champions League. If they continue to play the way they did last night, they might as well forget about that competition because Espérance will punish them. Espérance played very well against Al Ahly both at home and away

I find it very disturbing to compare Mamelodi Sundowns with a team that hardly reaches the group stages of the CAF Champions League,, a team known for always bending to Mamelodi Sundowns, and well known undisputed deputy champions of South African football..

Football history is measured in many ways. Some teams are proud of having 9 league titles in 90 years, while some of us feel that’s a total failure for such an old team and that’s okay. Some are content with merely participating in the PSL or qualifying for the Top 8, so please don’t impose your opinion of football history on us, especially when you support a team with so little league titles to show.

Sure, prize money has increased over the years no argument there. 💰 But football history isn’t measured in rands. It’s measured in trophies and legacy. Orlando Pirates were the first South African club to win Africa’s top club competition in 1995.

Im sure they got less than R50k for winning that rusted champions cup while Mamelodi Sundowns got more than R20m for winning the champions league title. 🤭
