So I just saw this video from @Th3birdman15 and I'm genuinely curious how people can be this dumb. In the scenario, there's literally no downside to pushing red. If everyone presses red, everyone lives. The only reason to press blue is to feel morally superior, as some savior of the masses, and in doing so there's a 50/50 chance of killing a whole bunch of people. fwiw, and this is embarrassing but I'm going to admit it, my instinct was blue, and I pressed blue. then I thought about it for a moment and the answer was clearly red. I can't make a rational case for blue, but understand where blues are coming from (they are wrong).

Another reason to pick red: You assume that 50% of the population "will not just" coordinate and pick blue, so picking blue has high probability of dying without saving anyone. You pick red, as your particular vote is extremely unlikely to change the outcome anyway.

Obviously red would be the right button to push, except for the fact that children get to vote privately too. I’m not voting red if there’s a chance my toddler has randomly voted blue. I think that gets you a pretty large and solid vote for blue.
