--- KHARG DISASTER ---
Much of Iran's oil is passed through (loaded onto tankers) on Kharg Island. Controlling the flow of oil could be devastating to Iran's economy. It may even cause a regime change. Those in power cannot remain if they don't have the money.
For this reason many ask why the U.S. doesn't invade and take control of the island. And this is true. The U.S. military would probably make an easy job of it.
But this where the problems begin. Kharg Island is small. About 8 square miles. Roughly one third the size of Manhattan. And it is about 16 miles from mainland Iran. It is easily reached by drones, missiles, and even artillary fire. The U.S. soldiers on the island would be sitting ducks. The American death rate could be very high. The political consequences for President Trump would be obvious. It's not as easy as some would have you believe it is. It could end up being a disaster.
