Spring '95. Tiger, still largely unknown outside golf circles, is in a study hall with many Stanford athletes. They exchange Spring Break destinations. Tiger: "Going to the Masters" Greg Comella (Stanford RB): "That's the toughest tix in sports! How?" Tiger: "I'm playing."

Tiger's 46 today. Give me your favorite tidbit, stat or story about the Cat. I'll throw some of mine out there a bit later.

@PitcherList Except, watching their reactions, the batter instantly knew and so did the catcher.

That DOM vs. USA final strike was painful to watch But just look how stupid hard it is to accurately call this a ball at 90 mph after dealing with 101 mph. This is the final, what, 10 feet to the plate? Starts dead center and ends below the zone.

If you’re an MLB fan celebrating “pi day,” your Player of the Day has to be 1974 Cy Young winner, rubber-armed, Mike Marshall, who pitched an astounding 208 innings in relief. Why Player of the Day? Marshall had a career ERA of 3.1413, closer to pi than any other pitcher. @baseball_ref

@TheSteveCohen21 I'm split between remembering him as an Expo or Dodger -- even though he played for 9 teams.

@MagicRatSF I am a Reds fan and hated to see Marshall in the pen warming up. A very underrated player.

I'll jump in because I love when people do try to learn this. The DG guys were immensely helpful to me in '17-'18 when I was writing a data driven book and numerous articles on golf. Strength of field adjustments are derived from cross-tour participation. So, anytime a LIV player participates in a major or a DPT event (and DPT to PGA, etc. etc) it creates some baseline comparisons. Obviously, the less overlap to examine, the more variance there will be in those field adjustments. That's a fair criticism of DG for LIV fans to make -- but make no mistake the DG guys are doing the best they can with available observations/data and almost certainly still producing best-in-class readings.

Data Golf gave Sepp Straka more “true strokes gained” for coming in 3rd at the 20-man Hero World Challenge than it did to Jon Rahm for winning LIV Hong Kong. @DataGolf this is a joke yall are fucking clowns. Not sure how anyone takes their world ranking seriously

Hear you. I'm low man on Sunny Gray (36) and Ranger (30) coming off his career best in a "contract year" and moving to Fenway. I think Rays lineup better than surface numbers due to heavy platooning. At least both prices give me wiggle room to be wrong and still "right." Cheers and good luck this year.

@MagicRatSF Watching your breakdown. So far don't agree with Red Sox & Rays. Rays are pretty bad. Lineup is trash. Red Sox have starting pitching.

@TheStalwart “Why are we taking the “long cut”?” — From our four year-old in a car seat when we took a different route home from the market. No parrot would make that leap of (erroneous) logic.

Kids will say things like “I bringed that to school”, which is an error that a parrot (the bird kind) would never make

What’s with the whole debate about whether humans are “parrots” or not? How is this even a debate? Anyone who has raised kids knows that we don’t learn language through mimicry. Children make all kinds of syntactical errors in speech that they’ve never once heard an adult make.

@CourtsSports0 The receipt of an acknowledgement wave, ideally accompanied with a tiny head nod, relaxes me so much I'd probably let someone steal the groceries in the car along with the merge.

Hank Aaron hit 755 home runs and never struck out 100 times in a season. Remember this the next time you’re watching an MLB game and every piece of shit .230 hitter is swinging from his ass.
