@probablytired2 Maybe but looking at them, they come with tools and that makes me not want to do it. Hopefully it's just "waking up" and might be fine once I've used it a bit.

I think it should be pointed it out this isn't one of those settings that say Hell is real and Heaven isn't. They confirm God is REAL and actively aiding Christianity but somehow the forces of Heaven are on the same level of ambiguous morality as the forces of sadistic demons.
Champions of the Ice@ChampionsOTIce

Still blows my mind that someone made a setting where Christianity is fighting the forces of Hell in brutal trench warfare, then threw a tantrum that it was attracting edgy Christians. That's like making a game about sexualized, anthropomorphic animals and then getting mad that Furries show up in droves. Who the fuck did you think the audience would be?

What I’ve learned from people’s responses to this topic: > Servitors are everywhere, and the Mechanicus kidnaps people from the streets to turn them into servitors, regardless of their actual presence on the planet. > "Civilized worlds" encompasses hive worlds, feudal worlds, and even feral worlds when it suits the argument, but not when it contradicts it. > Black Library novels are not canon - except when they are, if it supports the argument. > You can discredit third-party sources like FFG RPGs, but you can also cite third-party sources like Imperium Maledictum when they support your point. > Old lore isn’t valid unless it supports your argument; then it’s perfectly acceptable to use sources from years ago. > Every planet is exactly the same, unless it isn’t, because you want to push some agenda and need validation. > The Imperium is a brutally oppressive regime across the board, except when you want it to appear progressive regarding gender, sexuality, or other liberal values then it's not. > You can post the exact same photo of the same excerpt ad infinitum; you don’t need to read the book or understand the context, just repost it to "own" the chuds. > Games Workshop is consistent in its depictions that's why we have various contradicting sources > To be truly grimdark, everything must be grimderp. And if you don’t want everything to be so bleak that it breaks suspension of disbelief, then you "don’t like grimdark." Truly an enlightening experience. My final takeaway is this: if people think everything in the Imperium is the same regardless of various factors, then they should probably engage with more than just rulebooks and isolated excerpts online. For example, entry-point novels that show how varied the setting actually is.
Chainsword@Chainsword40k

Too many people don’t realize that not every planet in the Imperium is a hellhole hive world. Civilized worlds make up the majority of Imperial planets; they tend to have a decent standard of living and are relatively normal, just with 40K elements incorporated into them, things like symbols, architecture, etc. We see the horrible worlds more often because they make for a more interesting backdrop for stories. However, there are plenty of examples in novels that show more ordinary sides of the Imperium. The issue is that subtle grimdark doesn’t land for some people, so they default to grimderp, where everything in the Imperium is as brutal and miserable as possible. Usually, those same people also assume the Tau are universally good because their grimdark isn’t delivered like a hammer to the face.

Something unrelated to Warhammer, This morning my wife successfully and bravely gave birth to our twin sons, without a doubt she is the bravest and strongest person I have ever met, and to see her endure all of that and still come out smiling reminded me just how much I love her
