@GenericJes @jacobotweetsnow @akoz33 Yeah well like Trump said. We will remember. Don't be surprised when all US troops are out of Europe by next year. The NDAA allows redeployments by a simple majority vote in congress without an actual treaty withdraw. So bye bye Europe.

Europe has inadvertently destroyed the argument that the U.S. does not need sovereignty over Greenland because of NATO and a defense agreement with Denmark.

@akoz33 Not so. NATO and the defense agreement with Denmark have not been tested because the US was not attacked.

@AlexHollings52 The F-16 had the knick name of lawn dart after it came out because of the many crashes it suffered.

Before we see the same tired takes about F-35s crashing a lot, this is the 12th F-35 to crash out of 1,310+ delivered. That means less than 1% of F-35s built have been lost in crashes. At this point in the F-16’s service life, we had already lost 100+ Vipers in crashes.

@jhogan8088 @NewReaganCaucus The NDAA is voted on every year. He can set the troop levels in Europe to zero with a simple majority vote without having to officially leave NATO.

@NewReaganCaucus A law passed in 2024 prevents him from leaving NATO without an act of Congress or 2/3rds of the Senate. Marco Rubio co-sponsored the bill. We’re not leaving NATO-Trump’s trying to make them nervous enough to re-arm.

We're worried Trump wants out of NATO and recent events have helped him make that argument to his base.

@PSouls2 @StateDept Yep, probably. NDAAs are annual bills, Congress passes ‘em every year with a straight vote (simple majority in both chambers, then prez signs).

🚨 SECRETARY RUBIO: If NATO is just about us defending Europe if they’re attacked, but them denying us basing rights when we need them, then that’s not a very good arrangement. That’s a hard one to stay engaged in and say this is good for the United States.

Rubio’s right, no treaty forces permanent troops. But FY26 NDAA (signed Dec ‘25) locks U.S. Europe forces at min 76k, no drop below without SecDef certifying to Congress: ally consults, security risks, full impact. Just red tape. Trump could push, but it’d drag. Bases? 1951 NATO SOFA (London, June 1951) covers legal status, jurisdiction, taxes, but termination’s slow: any party denounces after 4 years, 1 year notice to U.S. Actual basing rights are bilateral (Germany, Italy deals), pulling those needs host talks, not instant. So leverage exists, but it’s messy. If allies won’t host for Hormuz ops? Quiet drawdown’s possible, just not clean.

@Jadestormchase I felt like tornado chasing was an almost entire American phenomenon. I never would've imagined there were people in Japan so in love with weather they would travel to chase such dangerous storms. That is amazing! I hope you stay very safe but get some great footage!

@StateDept The problem is, it takes 2/3 of Congress both parts to end us in NATO. And a 1 year notice.
