@JulieBoudicca @jonnyboybrum @jonnorris12 There is no Easter Broadcast. Easter is considered a family time for the Royals and it's long been that way. Which is why they don't do an Easter Broadcast. Nor did HM QE2. Hope that addresses YOUR concerns about OUR Head of State

@jonnyboybrum @jonnorris12 I saw them go to church then a mosque. I didn’t see an Easter broadcast. The US president did one. Is he more Christian than the head of England’s church?

Quite funny seeing Americans telling us on here how we are living under Sharia Law in The Uk whilst we are on our four day bank holiday weekend to both commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and to celebrate his resurrection.

@danrsvilla @1ohreally @an0n_Nic I get the take but we aren't creating businesses that are sucking in global capital. We aren't producing wealth creators anymore. The homegrown creator is dying out and a global market is hoovering up talent + ventures. Deepmind was UK now Google's. Min wage rises won't fix that

@1ohreally @an0n_Nic No, because the more money people have to spend the more buoyant the economy is and the more customers you have so you can wear the additional cost! The UK is fucked, and it’s fucked because it’s spent years letting the rich suck all the wealth to the top and fucking working ppl

@rleder @Microinteracti1 @PaulRChase @KurtSchlichter You are flying from our territory. Are you not being told this in the US? US airplanes are taking off to interdict sites in Iran from the UK every hour of the working day. I've seen Warthogs, F15s and B2s (I think that's the model) from multiple British bases in the last week.

@Microinteracti1 @PaulRChase @KurtSchlichter Use of airspace is a pretty small ask, though. I get that you don’t want to be roped into the conflict, but unless you literally support the Islamic Republic, why can’t American jets fly from or over your territory?

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America. The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation. The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.” Nope. We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.
Gerard Baker@gerardtbaker

The casuistry here is remarkable. This is the simple reality: Like most Americans, most Europeans think this war is a bad idea.Their governments are being asked to take a huge risk by a man who has proved unreliable, volatile and intemperate over and over. Who would do that?

@Realdonmiller @larroumecj Why are you bombing Iran then if helping (and promotionally demonstrating effectiveness of and selling weapons to) Ukraine made no sense. Why don't you just return all service personnel and equipment back to your patch of land below Canada and leave our defence markets too.

@larroumecj We've wanted to leave... the dollars reserve currency status is already gone (Basel III) and few realize it. It NEVER made sense for the US to lift a finger for Ukraine... not seeing how NATO really benefits us at this point and nobody has been able to explain it.

Anglophone X is now flooded with Americans explaining how Europe was freeloading off the American empire, and cheering its coming end. I'm cheering too, so we're on the same side. But here's the funny part: MAGA has actually gaslit itself into believing the American Empire was a bad deal for America and a gift to Europe. (And that it was always this way - meaning they genuinely think their parents and grandparents were either idiots or naive philanthropists who, having Europe in the palm of their hand, decided to set up a system that worked against them.) As a result, MAGA is now dismantling its own empire. We haven't seen a self-own this spectacular since Germany blew up its own nuclear plants. There's always a moment in history when the metropole gets tired of paying for empire and loses sight of what it's getting out of it. We're there now. It's going to cost Europe dearly to exit its semi-protectorate status. But in the end, it'll be far better off for it. I put together a quick scorecard of what each side - America and Europe - gains and loses from the status quo. I'd encourage my American friends to take a look. So many of you have no idea how your own empire actually works. (1/2)

@NewBornBaby19 @ClimateWarrior7 Incoherent is pretty rich from a Strawman. No one cares about fuel cost in a vacuum do they? They care about the cost to them. That cost is able to be lowered if we generate more income as a country because we can whether higher borrowing without hurting our credit rating. 🤡

@campbellclaret You have one operational destroyer, and both of your carriers are in maintenance. You pretend your base in Cyprus wasn't attacked by Iran because you can't project power. If the US were attacked tomorrow, what assets would you even be able to send? Such embarrassment for the UK.

Have you talked to Pole, a Croatian, a Slovenian or an Estonian lately? Or by Eastern Europe do you mean Hungary? And btw Ari the country you refer to is not England. It’s called the UK. I thought you might have remembered that from when we worked together in Afghanistan and Iraq. Scots Welsh and N Irish fought alongside your people post 9/11 on the one time Article 5 was activated at 🇺🇸 request. Surprised you’re not calling out this Trumpian madness. I suspect your old boss is despite his long term public silence, which I really wish he would. This is not a normal presidency and your country’s reputation is being damaged globally in ways it will take a long time to recover
Ari Fleischer@AriFleischer

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@ivegotthisK @KurtSchlichter Shut up. I spent the last week on holiday 5 minutes from a US airbase on UK soil flying f15s etc from. These planes are off on bombing runs and making the UK a target from Iranian actions for letting you do this from our soil when others are denying you that. Show some courtesy

@NewBornBaby19 @ClimateWarrior7 We know it was about the real cost to our people and business therefore the ultimate benefit to our economy of a risk free rev share and the ability for the Govt to provide subsidised cost savings for UK population is the underlying point.

When I joined in 85 we could maintain an Army of 150k in a population ~56 million. Army is half that & population is ~70 million. Huge demographic & social changes but still shocking that not enough people can be recruited. A problem throughout the western world generally.

@BonusExposure @selhurstpaw1 @ForcesNews I did basic twenty years ago and also last year. But it's night and day. It's too soft now. So it's not that and recruitment falling means it never was. It's not clear to many if the govt will reward them with proper support, there is also huge national apathy.

@TomvanderH @Paulssen5 @patricksavalle Dose, exposure and source are objective. They are not theories. If you can determine the source of a poison gas, calculate the time of exposure and what constitutes a fatal dose of the poison. Do you agree you can determine what point a human would die from a poison gas?

Patrick Savalle tweet media
Patrick Savalle@patricksavalle

@thinkdefence Part of the defence budget is recruitment related. Id imagine part of recruitment is inspiring people over what has been achieved over the past. Personally think that it's sad it's come to this. We have so poorly funded our defence we are debating the merits of binning heritage
