On March 26 2026 the first public protocol goes live on Igra Mainnet. 🚨PoUW: Mining That Actually Does Something Useful Proof of Useful Work (PoUW) is being talked about more after Kaspa's founder recently suggested exploring it as an upgrade to traditional Proof of Work. In normal PoW, miners burn energy solving meaningless hash puzzles just to secure the network. But in PoUW, that same mining power is redirected toward real useful computation like AI workloads, scientific research, data processing, or complex problem solving. So instead of energy being wasted, it produces real world value while still keeping the network secure. **SilverScript: The piece nobody is talking about** Everyone's focused on Kaspa's May 5 hardfork. Covenants, native assets, ZK verification. All valid. Announced February 10 by Ori Newman, SilverScript is Kaspa's first high-level smart contract language. No external VMs. No shared global state like Ethereum's EVM. It compiles directly to native Kaspa Script. No bolt-on layer, no overhead, native opcodes all the way down. Here's the distinction most coverage misses. Newman described SilverScript as handling "contracts with local state (UTXO model)" - a complement and infrastructure layer for vProgs (shared state). That difference is massive. In Ethereum, every contract touches a global state that every other contract can read and modify. That's why reentrancy attacks exist. That's why the DAO hack happened. Billions drained from one fundamental design flaw. Kaspa eliminates the problem at the root. Every contract state lives inside individual UTXOs. “Everyone else uses L2’s”. How many bitcoiners know that when you want to open a lightning channel you have to broadcast an L1 transaction first? How many bitcoiners know that if you fund a lightning channel with for example 0.05 BTC and you use your channel capacity (channel capacity = X amount of BTC you initially opened channel with and locked in a multi sig wallet) you cannot simply top up your balance, you have to either receive payments or close the channel by settling the balance (or splicing funds which is a newer feature) - all of which require another L1 transaction? If you choose not to do this then your next option is to route payments through hubs and that’s not even worth my time explaining. How will people do all of this when they are competing with billionaires on the L1? “Just use lighting” yeah and how the fuck do I do that when fees will be so expensive and I’m trying to open a channel so I can use lighting and it costs 3 months worth of of my paycheck? The obvious conclusion is when hyperbitcoinization happens, like all Bitcoiners claim will, you will have to lock up a significant amount of BTC in order to transact on LN and not constantly run out of spending money forcing you to transact on the L1 time and time again just to keep your channel funded. “All channel management (opening and closing of these channels) has to be done through the L1. It's not orthogonal, both increase the budget of miners, one through token inflation, the other through external utility (AI inference). -- Irrespective of your claims on TE, changing the total supply fractures the social consensus around kas. For constitutional changes, the process (of aligning and measuring a super super majority) matters more than the outcome. -- Irrespective of my preference for pouw, I'm optimistic that we will get kas adoption right in 2026.
