@neurotronic @nixcraft I installed an Arch to my grandfather computer 2 years ago and works as the first day and it was updated with the latest gnome 43 automatically, but the firsts 1 or 2 days I was to dedicate to install all as he wants.
English

@nixcraft I don’t have time for Arch or any other masochist distros. I need to deploy infrastructures quickly and efficiently without time wasting for distro related issues. Ubuntu LTS all the way. 😎👍🏻

@LinaAsahi Congratulations for the incredible work and research you are making on Apple GPU driver for Linux.

@jacobsartorius Hello Jacob how you feel right now?? I hope you are amazingly well like me, all what you think you can💪

@guettli @gvanrossum One example just in html is when you need to import styles, Javascript or similar. You don't write all the code in one place, you call them in one place and is supposed that you know where it is and how to use.
English

@guettli @gvanrossum 1 Locality of behavior: I think you confuse the principle, one thing is thinking what happens in the current code/execution but other is where things come from. When you create HTML you need to focus on what the user seen.

Python influencing JavaScript (again).

@gvanrossum Real happy about pattern matching; the proposal was so good it helped inform JS's pattern matching proposal! github.com/tc39/proposal-… (source: me, I'm the one who used it to argue for changes in the JS proposal)
English

@guettli @gvanrossum The other is in terms of security, as all in web, all can be explotaible to the extent that you appli security for example handling the user input.
If there are no user input, no "exploits is possible"
English

@RofesMarc @gvanrossum I like locality-of-behaviour. I want HTML and code in one place. This means I need to pass the variables from the code to the template. If you use f-strings, then no automatic quoting happens which can lead to explosive vulnerabilities. Manually quoting is no solution. ...
English

@guettli @gvanrossum Separate where things come from allows easy scalability, because is possible that for example in other html you need to reuse any variable or function
English

@guettli @gvanrossum Without offending, I don't think the same as you just on the points you have mentioned:
English

@guettli @gvanrossum I don't know if Python have templates in his core, but you can use Jinja2, a package of template engine that is included by default in the mainly web development frameworks.
English

@gvanrossum Great!
JS has a feature I would love to see in Python: Template Literals.
This would be great for creating properly quoted html.
English

@SiriusArani @devbyaccident @dailyzshtip @nixcraft @debian @Windows That's paradoxically and so true, the best feature of Windows is WSL (Linux) 😂😂
English

@devbyaccident @dailyzshtip @nixcraft @debian @Windows Yeah, but wsl with GUI support is Win11 only, which won t boot on my device.
English

@KilgoreFnTrout @SawyerMerritt Yes, but not many people with money help improve humanity and spend it on themselves.
English

@SawyerMerritt That $224,000 million. It’s absurd and frankly gross that any one person has that much wealth.
