Why do so many AI tools have the word "claw" in them?

@LyalinDotCom Right my wife asked me the other day why I stopped my hobby with microcontrollers and TinyML. I hadn't realized AI was now taking all my time for the past few weeks. Enjoy the vacation

On vacation, so finding some hours here and there to test various models and harnesses. I really do enjoy this stuff, I can 100% say this has replaced all my other hobbies (not that I have much time for hobbies lol). So what am I finding over the last week? I continue to see these trends: 1. Models have very clear strengths and weaknesses. I increasingly think of them as personalities. 2. When the harness + model works, its magic and incredible... but when it fails, it fails really badly and needs a large amount of intervention. Sometimes you have to go as far as totally coming up with your own approach instead of what the model attempted. Models still find a dead path and can explore it for 20–60 minutes easily. It’s kind of funny and sad to watch. 3. Building any complex project is extremely improved by being an engineer and guiding the model to build components both spiritually and physically. This creates much higher likelihood of success for the bigger vision. I do less "reading code" and more "checking architecture" unless its really broken or I worry about a very specific nitch 4. I’m obviously building small projects and nothing I’m shipping, but I do try to make things really work well, at a reasonable cost. If AI is included, I still think you cannot beat Gemini 3 Flash, @NanoBanana 2, Gemini 2.5 TTS and other Google models. They are so good at what they do. Okay back to vacation 😄

I've never had an AI support agent ever actually solve my problem. I have to escalate to a human every time.

If AI writes part of your code… who should get the credit? And maybe more importantly, who gets to decide that?

@rxhit05 Anytime I cannot find a free tool to do something I want I have AIStudio code it for me, and if needed use Antigravity to enhance it. Saved me countless hours making a little tool for cropping audio automatically over a ton of files.

Are Antigravity and Google AI Studio really as good as they say for vibe coding apps?

@ThePrimeagen because you save an image and suddenly it's unusable can't paste it can't upload it half your tools don't recognize it it's a format that works great for browsers and terribly for humans

why does everyone hate webp?

@LyalinDotCom This is one of the best combos, I loved Firebase Studio with all the integrations it had. I loved the plan with styling before make feature hope they transfers to AI Studio. felt limited in some aspects. Gonna be an amazing new tool and look forward to using it.

Fun fact, I was the product lead over Firestore for a bit from Firebase side. Though eventually I helped reorganize the team where I gave it up, I did stay in close working relationships with those folks, so got to watch the story unfold that landed this from a far Go team! 👏

@gracepace_ Great take, I just bought Meta glasses and haven't used my head hurting headset in over a year. Thanks for sharing your journey. I think spacial integration into existing equipment will be the way, not headsets.

Meta didn’t just move away from VR. They moved toward lighter, more social, AI-powered wearables instead of bulky headsets. That’s a product shift, not the death of immersive design

Meta is shutting down the metaverse. Back in 2018, I got rejected trying to become a product designer on Horizon Worlds So I built my own VR world instead. That project ended up changing my life. (Thread)

@ai_for_success I have used 5 of their coding tools Firebase was awesome just did not catch on, Antigravity is my fav, but really can't use on my phone, vertex AI was just confusing, AIStudio was simple, and Code Assist made life easy. So glad the are combining the best of all worlds

@tunahorse21 I am appreciating this as I now no longer have slow running AI. They had to limit the free plans so the paying plans get the reliable and fast AI we are paying for.

@UnityCodeMonkey 2 years ago I completed Metas VR development professional certification where they taught you tools like Unity. One week from finishing it they ended the cert due to them changing to their new Horizon tool. They should have just partnered instead of recreating the wheel.

Sadly it seems interest in VR is still low, it's an awesome magical industry but I guess still quite niche. I will still do a Getting Started tutorial though
