@swingtrader Attempt to bring in more lucrative concession dollars and send studios a message.
Post covid attendance is still considerably lower.
All exhibitors want studios to enforce longer windows on all major releases. AMC to studios, want more revenue, give us longer windows
Parenting is challenging.
Gen Z rarely hears no, so when you say the word...
Six days before the youngest heads to school and the "no" will effectively build a wall between us.
Consensus says we take a step back in 2024 based on the number of releases.
I am a bit more optimistic for 2024, maybe not the slate being offered, but desire for people to get out of their house.
I am optimistic for 2024 or I'm tired of the uncertainty

@ScottMendelson I am not ready to repeat 2021 in our industry. The last four years have been hard enough.
We need content, we need family films, we need content. It is just that simple.
I am most bummed about the delay for #Elio, since Pixar loses its chance to build on its "Remember how much you enjoyed watching these in theaters?" momentum from 'Elemental.'
Hollywood really is cutting off its nose to spite its face.
@ScottMendelson As a theater owner, I am seeing very little awareness & enthusiasm from my customers on new films. From the new TMNT film, customers, "I didn't know there was a new turtles movie".
From a staff member, build up on films pre-covid was months, now, they seem to just appear.
#TheMeg2 earning opening 1/3 below The Meg is not unexpected ("folks were only curious the first time"), but that it's partially getting dinged by the other WB movie, #Barbie, has to offer some skewed bemusement. #BoxOffice
@Zakiyyah6 100% correct. I own theaters and I have dealt with this emotional roller-coaster of how our business is performing. The rest of summer is sort of underwhelming. MI:DR and Opp are okay but not the type of concession revenue producers we need.
@ScottMendelson For the first time since 2019, the last two weekends have felt "normal" in our industry.
The one-two-three-four punch of movies that are actually drawing crowds in the midwest: Jesus Revolution, Creed III, Cocaine Bear and Antman.
With 3 openers this weekend, are we back?
#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania drops hard again in weekend three for a $420 million worldwide total. It should finish just below $500 million global. Whether or not Marvel is in trouble, the Ant-Man franchise is arguably dead. #BoxOffice
@tonylewisverdu@ScottMendelson@TheWrap Yes, Hulu makes sense for Comcast/Universal. Iger and Roberts have already made comments in the press regarding it. Dis focuses on family content, adult Fox content licensed to Hulu
I hope you're right on HBO but this cost cutting wave could hurt overall content on Max.
@ScottPageant@ScottMendelson@TheWrap You think Hulu will get acquired by Comcast rather than Disney taking over it?
I think WB will license content to other platforms, like you said, but HBO Max will remain on the frontline alongside Disney and Netflix. Prime too. Amazon can afford to spend on Prime.
With Wall Street no longer prioritizing content splurges and subscription counts, Hollywood is trying a bold new gambit to monetize their films - releasing them in movie theaters!!! via @TheWrap by @ScottMendelsonthewrap.com/movies-streami…
@tonylewisverdu@ScottMendelson@TheWrap Apple needs deeper catalog and more content to be main stage.
Paramount+, good catalog, mountains of debt, really Sheridan+.
Prime, again, huge spend on content, big losses across company.
Not sure what happens to them, I just know they can't continue.
@tonylewisverdu@ScottMendelson@TheWrap 3 to 4 main streamers: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, ?
Hulu is acquired by Comcast using Universal IP and Fox IP via Disney.
HBO Max, WB is already lic content to others, reduces spend on content, what happens to it, ???, becomes second tier,
@tonylewisverdu@ScottMendelson@TheWrap More likely to consolidate into fewer services. The companies that own them will want to make money from the content they produce which does mean a stop at the theater, before moving onto streaming with Netflix being the only exception at this point.
Had an ex employee try to get unemployment. He worked for me less than a month and no show no called. It took more than 20 emails, 10 letters in the mail and THREE hearings over the course of 3 months but I FINALLY got the case thrown out...
One of @CountingCrows greatest songs...and one of my personal favorites.
Took on new meaning over the last three years due to the conflux of issues Covid has been to my business, my life and the world I live in.
