@fthegurus @WarMonitor3 because NATO is a defensive alliance that has only ever in its total history been enabled once to defend the US in Afghanistan. NATO is not overly concerned with Russia anymore, they are a big disruption but can't even figure out Ukraine.

Europe didn’t show up the way Trump expected. Trump noticed. He said it publicly. Now both sides are recalibrating what the alliance actually means. NATO without trust is just a piece of paper. The next big test — if Russia moves on a Baltic state, does the US actually show up?

A real rift is coming between the US and Europe over NATO after the Iran war and it is not going to be beneficial to either side...
