@That1Passholder @NickChaps96 It was sold at Walt Disney World and Disneyland primarily from 2018 to 2019, with some overlap into 2020!
English

@NickChaps96 That is an awesome cup! Where did you find that one? I don't remember ever seeing it in the parks
English

@NickChaps96 Wow! I don’t have that mug yet, I do have the Funko Pops however. That anniversary line was great
English

@jackbrady1010 According to Walt Disney, he needed very little direction while on set, he was a natural! Walt said he was one of the best actors he ever met, and remained friends with James until his passing in 1948
English

Can I just say how shockingly good the mix of live action is? There doesn't seem to be a single flaw at all.
I wonder what the set James was on was like

Fun fact! James Baskett auditioned for the main three animated characters in Song of the South, not just a butterfly like many have claimed. He got the role of Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit for certain scenes, but it wasn't until he met Walt Disney that he got the role of Uncle Remus!

@RPD0285 For sure! Thank you for your feedback

@SplashMHS This is a super interesting piece of lore. Many of us aren’t privy to the inner workings of Imagineering. In a future post can you identify the first cast member to suggest this, and the circumstances?
English

@RPD0285 After, they removed references to its characters, music, and took it off of merchandise. This shows that they did not originally have the idea to erase Splash Mountain. Even if there was a plan to get rid of the ride prior, it wasn't full-on erasure for its content. (2/2)
English

@RPD0285 Sure, thank you for asking! Basically, Disney had been promoting Splash Mountain up until a month until the announcement of a re-theme. (1/2)

@1928Fantasmic @muppetsleaze Princess and the Frog actually did not do too well at the box office despite being an overall success financially, Disney likely knew that the characters wouldn’t be recognized. Dumb logic on their part to assume generic animals are more known, though.
English

@SplashMHS @muppetsleaze Not only that, but why didn’t they make new plush of Louis and Ray??
All we got was a Cuddleez that doesn’t even really look like Louis and a weird light up plastic firefly.
English

@1928Fantasmic @muppetsleaze They genuinely were so out of touch that they believed characters from the Brer Rabbit stories that existed for hundreds of years were less profitable than generic charmless animal designs.
English

@SplashMHS @muppetsleaze Who would have guessed the plush toys of characters who only appear for two scenes in the ride don’t sell? Or everyone’s favorite theme park souvenir: spices?
I need to know how any of this merch got greenlit 😂😂
English

@muppetsleaze I think a more family friendly Tiana themed ride would be a home run, especially for kids. Splash Mountain’s track was built for teenagers, so that’s one of the many reasons it doesn’t mesh well with the new theme.
English

@muppetsleaze From what I know kids are often confused and get off underwhelmed due to the ride having little to do with the movie and breaking down frequently. To me, I think they should recruit Disney’s first Black animator, Floyd Norman, to bring back Splash Mountain. He advocates for it.
English

@muppetsleaze @BrerOswald It was usually packed, I remember waiting 160 one time in December.
English

@BrerOswald interesting, my tradition with my friends was always doing splash twice right before closing so i have no context of splashs like midday vibes
