Brother, he doesn't just do well in the WCC. His teams do well OOC too. I mean, he's had more appearances and success in the ultimate out of conference arena: the NCAA tourny, than our departed coach. Bennett appears to be a strong "do more with less" kind of coach. That's exactly what ASU needs right now.

@avidseries Well yeah, STEM is a massive category that encompasses everything from pre-med to electrical engineering. More accurate would be comparing social sciences to STEM, and there you'll see a massive difference.

Just to be clear: The figure for both areas include all degrees, including associate's and advanced. So, not just bachelor's. (The figure for bachelor's and advanced degrees in STEM is over 230,000.)

We're talking about consistent results over decades of self reporting in different surveys/studies showing rape as around 1% of reported reasons for abortion. You've been arguing that because a majority of women haven't given their reason we "know nothing." Here's why I say you're being obtuse: if you claim you taught bioethics and are an educated person, I find it deeply unlikely you haven't had some kind of education in how statistics work. You'd know your argument is nonsensical. We don't need a majority of a population to make meaningful statistical inferences. So no, I think you're either being obtuse or you're over-inflating your credentials because you want to believe you're an authority on a topic you think you understand well, but demonstrably don't. I don't need to go any further than this. You can either educate yourself on the subject from here, or keep up your act.

I find these posts very revealing of the ignorance of the anti-abortion lobby. No woman feels 'empowered' by having to have an abortion after 9 months of carrying her child. It's not something anyone does because they didn't get round to ending a pregnancy for nearly a year. The biggest category for late stage abortions? When the fetus has died and is septic, or the mother is a child and unable to safely give birth or undergo caesarean. This is a far right fantasy of the 'monstrous corrupt woman'.

When we're debating subjective vs objective morality we're debating the nature of morality. Ironically, from a worldview of subjective morality, morality can't have one single nature, so you can't call it objectively subjective. You're borrowing from concepts of objective truth and shared reality to try and reinforce that you think morality is subjective. Your argument is self-refuting.

It claims the gamete-based definition is flawed because it isn't "inclusive of reproductive approached beyond anisogamy" and fails to "classify organisms before sexual maturity or after reproductive cessation as having a sex." But anisogamy (reproduction via the fusion of gametes of different sizes) isn't meant to apply to isogamous organisms (organisms that reproduce via the fusion of same-sized gametes). Anisogamy and the sexes—male and female—are fully intertwined and inseparable. Isogamous organisms don't have sexes; they have "mating types." They're different from sexes, and that's why biologists aren't "inclusive" of isogamous organisms when talking about males and females. And the notion that a gamete-based definition doesn't apply to sexually immature individuals or individuals who have ceased producing gametes ignores that the sexes are defined by having the biological FUNCTION to produce small or large gametes—and things still have a function even when its not being currently realized. None of us were cited, so they just argued against a strawman. There's so much more wrong with the paper than I stated above, but an X post isn't the best format. I have reached out to the editors of Ecology Letters asking if they would consider publishing a counter-Viewpoint.
